Halloween Makeup: Power Up This Robotic Look

What does the woman of the future look like? We programmed ours to look like a super robot. You can get the look, too. It's easy. Simply unleash your creativity with affordable drugstore makeup and our video tutorial. Here's how!

Halloween Makeup: Power Up This Robotic Look: Complex

If you're searching for a Halloween look that strikes the perfect balance of glamorous and sparkly yet creatively creepy, this robot Halloween makeup is just right. Transforming yourself into a mega-metallic, robotic woman of the future can be easily achieved with products you probably already own or that can be picked up from any drugstore. Now, shall we compute?

Check out this video to see how to do the look or follow the steps below:

  1. Thoroughly prime your entire face prior to starting any Halloween makeup look.
  2. Warm up a generous amount of the silver cream shadow on a metal or plastic palette. Dip a flat-top kabuki brush into the cream, and begin stippling and buffing onto the skin. Make sure to cover your ears, neck, and chest. Really press the brush and stipple to build up the metallic quality.
  3. Use a cream shadow pencil or more of the cream shadow if you'd like, to fully cover your eyelids, brows, and lips.
  4. Apply a silver powder shadow over your lids to prevent creasing and intensify the metallic sheen.
  5. Now start to draw the lines where the different plates making up your robotic face would be with the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Black Bean. Immediately blend these lines out to create realistic shadows.
  6. Dip your finger in glitter adhesive, and press loose silver glitter onto the high points of your face to create more dimension and reflect the light.
  7. Now, returning to the eyes, add a little extra definition by applying a shimmery black powder shadow to the crease.
  8. Line the lower lid with black liner and smudge out.
  9. Create a winged cat eye on the top lid with liquid liner. Make this as dramatic as you'd like!
  10. Apply false lashes and mascara. We want to create an out-of-this-world look, so go bold!
  11. Use stick-on rhinestones to create clusters of "lights" sporadically.
  12. For extra credit, use a liquid liner to draw bar codes and circuit board pieces on your face. This will give even more of a futuristic look and really turn heads!

The main question I get whenever I post these Halloween tutorials is "How do you get it all off? Doesn't it take forever?" The answers are "Olive oil" and "No!" I warm olive oil in my hands and rub it all over my face to loosen up the layers of makeup. Then I place a hot washcloth on my face to further encourage all that makeup to slide right off! I wipe off as much as I can before using my Clarisonic and gel cleanser. Pro tip: After a heavy-duty look like this, I like to let my skin rest with a soothing mask like Peter Thomas Roth Cucumber Gel Masque. Aah!
