Happy Hour Makeup Touch-Up Kit
With warmer weather come more opportunities to dash out for a drink after work, but often at the end of the day your face looks anything but fresh. We can fix that! Put together a post-work pick-me-up kit to make sure you’re putting your best face forward.
It's finally patio season! There's often nothing as relaxing as sipping your drink de jour, catching up with friends and dishing about your day in an outdoor setting. But come 5:00, if you're anything like me, your makeup has faded, your eyes are looking and feeling tired, and though you want to meet up with the girls, your face says otherwise! Well, we're going to make a little "happy hour beauty kit" to keep at work so that you'll always be ready at a moment's notice. Here's everything you need to revive at 5!
4:59: You get the text: "Hey, up for after work drinks at our usual?! Have lots to tell you!"
5:00: Hesitate because you look haggard.
5:01: Blotting sheets
Instead of packing on powder, absorb excess oil in the T-zone with oil blotting sheets. The best ones I've found are from Boscia.
5:02: Setting spray or facial mist
This is my favorite way to rejuvenate your foundation and give you skin some dewiness! It feels refreshing and wakes your skin right up! e.l.f. Makeup Mist and Set is affordable and effective.
5:03: Stick concealer
You'll notice redness emerge throughout the day so just swipe around the nose, corners of the mouth, and under the eyes. Stick concealers are great because they are quick to apply and offer high coverage in one swipe. L'Oreal Super Blendable Crayon Concealer is a cinch to use.
Blush is like magic for worked-all-day skin. It gives life to skin that is otherwise dull and makes you look healthier. Benefit's Posietint is great because you don't even need a brush to apply and it's hard to over do it.
This is the best cheat for looking awake and healthy when you subsisting on straight caffeine and carbs. Tap a highlighter on the tops of cheekbones, at the inner corners of the eyes, above the cupid's bow and on the bridge of your nose. It makes such a big difference! TheBalm Mary-Lou Manizer is a great go-to highlighter that will wake that face right up!
5:06: Eye drops
After an 8-hour day, especially if you work at a computer, eye drops are a must. My favorite for easily irritated eyes is Zaditor. I swear by it.
5:07: Black pencil liner
Line your inner rim—sometimes called the waterline—and it will instantly elevate your look. Just trust me and do it. If you want to smoke up your look, you can also draw some liner onto the outer corner of your eye and immediately smudge it out for some sex appeal. The L'Oreal Voluminous Smoldering Eyeliner is a great liner for that waterline especially!
5:08: Eyelash curler
Lashes can droop throughout the day, and if you didn't curl them already, it's basically like opening the shutters on a window! Tarte's Eyelash Curler is pinch-proof and does an excellent job.
Apply a fresh coat or mascara to your top and bottom lashes after curling. Concentrate on the outer corners to amp up your look. Revlon's Lash Potion Mascara is nurturing and great for building on existing mascara.
5:10: Bright lip color
This is the best way to say "I tried" without actually doing so. A swipe of a bright pink lip shade reads fun and lights up your whole face in one swift move. One step with high impact! I love Obsessive Compulsive Lip Tar in Anime or Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids Lipcolor in Pink Pop.
Now off you go! Cheers!
