Holiday Makeup How-to: Celeb Beauty Looks that Inspire

Amp up your makeup routine this holiday season. Whether you prefer glamour and sparkle or a subtle, natural look, we’ve culled some of our favorite celeb looks sure to make your holiday party—and mistletoe—season brighter than ever.

Vanessa Hudgens

To recreate Vanessa Hudgen’s look, you’ll need a black kohl pencil liner, a shimmery metallic shadow, mid-tone bronze shadow and false lashes. Sweep shimmery shadow from your lash line to crease, apply a mid-tone brown to your outer corner and lower lash line, line your top lash line and inner rim with black kohl liner. Apply a generous amount of mascara to your top and bottom lashes and then apply false lashes to your top lash line. Finish this look with cream blush and berry lips.

Mika Newton

This look is about major lashes and magenta lips. Apply a satiny vanilla shadow from lash line to brow bone. Use a brightening concealer under the eyes. Apply lots of mascara to top and bottom lashes and false lashes with mega drama like Ardell Double Up. Try Maybelline’s Sensational Vivids in Brazen Berry for lips. It's the perfect shade for the season.

Sandra Bullock

Sandra is working a classic holiday red lip. Make sure to line your lips first to keep the shape defined. A warm red like Revlon’s Super Lustrous Lipstick in Love That Red or Make Up For Ever’s Rouge Artist Intense 42 is festive and bold. Try a brown shadow and black liner with false lashes to keep the look classic.

Miranda Otto

Orange lips are a major trend this winter and I absolutely love it. Some gorgeous shades to try are Maybelline Sensational Vivids in Vibrant Mandarin and Stila Stay All Day liquid lipstick in Tesoro. Apply soft grey shadow and false, feathery lashes to complete this

Delta Goodrem

This is one gorgeous smoky eye! Sparkly charcoal shadow like Urban Decay’s Gunmetal with black liquid liner on top and black pencil liner on the inner rim creates the look. A rosy nude lip color like Tarte’s Glamazon Lipstick in Pure adds sophistication.

Matte eyes and metallic wine lips equal holiday party pretty! BareMinerals Moxie Lips in Raise the Bar is a great color to recreate this look. For matte chocolate eyes like these, try Smashbox Photo Op Eye Shadow Trio in Litho. Define your brows with a pencil such as Anastasia Brow Wiz

I really like Ciara’s soft, smoky eye with a pale nude lip. Use an eye pencil like NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Black Bean to sketch on the outer corner of the lid. Use a brush to blend out the color. BITE Beauty’s High Pigment Matte Pencil in Madeira would round out the look just right.

Kate Bosworth

Kate Bosworth’s understated look is perfect for girls who want to enhance their natural beauty. To get the look, fill in your brows one shade darker and keep the eyes minimal. Use a matte vanilla shade from lash line to brow bone and define your crease with a light warm brown. Use a stain on the lips like Revlon’s Just Bitten Balm Stain in Romantic.

Kristen Bell

Coral lips bring out the pink undertones in Kristen Bell’s complexion and complement those bright blue eyes. Replicate the look with Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick in Mandarin. Try a soft silver shadow on the eyes like Urban Decay’s Verve and black liquid liner on your top lash line only. Smashbox Halo Blush in Peachy Dream pairs well with coral lips.

Karlie Kloss

Karlie Kloss’s look is bronzy, smoky and sexy! Sweep a bronze shadow like Stila’s Jezebel or Maybelline Color Tattoo cream eyeshadow in Bad to the Bronze in the crease and along your lower lash line. Warm up your skin with a matte bronzer and use a pretty brown like NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Het Loo on the lips.

Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence’s look is a stunning example of a smoky eye makeup effect on hooded eyes. A matte hot pink lip provides contrast. Try NARS lipstick in Funny Face to replicate the look. A shimmery gray shadow like Laura Mercier Baked Eye Colour in Charcoal will enhance the effect.

Sarah Hyland

Sarah Hyland’s big round eyes look beautiful with a soft lined eye. Choose a creamy, smudgeable liner like Stila’s Smudge Stick in Stingray. A well-defined brow makes this look clean and put together. Keep the focus on the eyes by choosing a nude lip color like L’Oreal Colour Riche in Fairest Nude

Darby Stanchfield

Gingers can wear pink, too! Choose a cool-toned hue like OCC Lip Tar in Pretty Boy. Cool blue-toned grey on the eyes keeps the color palette consistent. Try a navy liner smudged on your top and lower lash line like Smashbox Always Sharp Waterproof Kohl Liner in French Navy.

Paris Hilton

For an heiress look, sweep a silver shadow from lash line to crease and use a liquid liner like Stila Stay All Day liner to draw a thick line along the top lash line. Use a simple nude lipgloss like Buxom’s Lip Cream in White Russian to balance the look.

Christina Aguilera

Christina gets a lot of flack for her makeup on The Voice but this look is Ivy-approved! Use a shimmery gold shadow like bareMinerals Glimmer Eyeshadow in True Gold and some thick false lashes. Her lip color is gorgeous in this photo. Try NARS Lipstick in Short Circuit—it’s a great orange.

Katy Perry

Katy is rocking the classic pinup look—a holiday favorite. A vivid red lip such as L’Oreal Colour Riche British Red is one of our favorites. A thick line of liquid liner on the top lash line and lush false lashes seals in the pinup vibe. I bet she’s even wearing her own lash line for Eyelure.

Jennifer Hudson

I absolutely love a clean, cobalt line. Sephora’s Long-Lasting 12HR Wear Eye Liner in Fancy Blue is one of my favorites. The cool blue is lovely with a pale gold shadow. A bubblegum pink lip color like Urban Decay’s Revolution Lipstick in Obsessed keeps the look soft and pretty.

Taylor Swift

To achieve Taylor’s beauty look, line your top and lower lash line with a deep black liner like Urban Decay’s 24/7 Liner in Perversion and really smudge it out with a golden brown shadow like NARS Galapagos. Peachy lips and cheeks round out her sexy, smoldering look.

Charlize Theron

Charlize’s look is glamorous but understated. Sweep a champagne shadow from lash line to crease and smudge a thin line of dark brown shadow along upper lash line. Apply lengthening mascara to your top and lower lashes and a set of natural false lashes to top lash line. Apply bronzer and a peachy blush. The perfect nude lip like Charlize’s can be recreated like NARS Lip Lacquer in Chelsea Girls. It's a peachy nude that works well for multiple skin tones.
