Always wanted to rock a lip piercing, but don't want to actually put a hole through your pout? This fake lip piercing trend was made for you.
Let's have a moment of honesty here, who hasn't wanted to try out a lip piercing at one time or another? And while RL lip piercings are having a big moment right now thanks to celebs like Cara Delevingne, TBH, forking over the money and actually getting the piercing done is a huge commitment!
However, as of late, Kim Kardashian has found the ideal dupe of *fake* (clip-on) lip rings that doesn't include putting a needle through your lip. And while we're slightly surprised that this kind of trend was inspired from her, we're totally here for it.
And sure, you can go ahead and buy the clip-on ring like Kim, but makeup artists around the world have discovered an even better way to fake the trend, and we have a feeling that you already have everything you need to try.
Introducing: the fake lip piercing trend using liquid lipstick.
The look can be created by applying your lip makeup as per usual, and either leaving a negative "ring like" space, or by swiping a single, bright line through the bottom lip where you want the "piercing" to lay.
It totally makes you do a double-take!
The trend was first noticed on makeup artist Daisy Weigt's (@dwglamgeek) Instagram page, and since then we've seen it pop up on Instagrams and YouTube channels of makeup artists everywhere. And considering how quickly it's spreading, we have a feeling that there will be quite a few of these fake piercings showing up at Coachella later this week. (Although you might not be able to tell the difference!)
Avoiding scary needles and still being able to pull off an adorable look is fine by us. With the ease and versatility of the trend, fake lip piercings are about to be uber-hot this summer. Check out this tutorial from Jasmine Urioste, and try out the trend on your next girls' night out!
