Kylie Jenner Lip Kits Sell Out in Minutes, But is the Product Any Good?

Kylie Jenner released her highly anticipated lip sold out in minutes and the reviews are in.

Kylie Jenner released her “lip kit” on Nov. 30 and the product sold out just minutes after it launched. According to Us Weekly, the youngest member of the Kardashian-Jenner family was thrilled to release three new lip colors, each in a kit that costs $29. Called the “Kylie Lip Kit,” the colors to choose from are called “Dolce K,” “Candy K,” and “True Brown K.”

The 18-year-old reality star is known for her makeup and fans seem to love everything that she wears on her face. It’s actually no surprise that these lip kits sold out so quickly, as many makeup products that Kylie uses tend to fly off the shelves in general. Jenner does have a particular way with her lips, which she admitted when talking about the new kit.

“It’s no secret I’m really into lips. One of my biggest dreams the past few years is to launch my own Kylie Lip Kit! After months and months of testing colors and designing the packaging… it’s finally happening!!!” Kylie wrote on her website.

Kylie Jenner is obviously really happy that her lip kits sold out, but everyone wants to hear reviews of the new products. While these lip colors look great on the reality star, USA Today writer Carly Mallenbaum posted her review after using the product. She said that she was able to get the “matte-look” which Jenner is known for… but that the color she tried out (a dark brown) wasn’t for her.

“The liner went on very easy, like a crayon. The ‘liquid lipstick,’ as it’s called, was more like a gloss with a sponge-tipped applicator. It tasted pretty good. Like chocolate. It achieved that Kylie-esque matte-lip look that I think I was going for. So that was pretty successful. However, the brown color was not for me (she also has two other lip colors, and expects to release even more makeup down the road), and the lipstick kinda crumbled up and peeled off after only a few minutes,” explained Mallenbaum, posting photos of the application process on Instagram.

Lexy Lebsack from Refinery 29 also tried out the lip kit… and she loved it.

“The lipstick goes on light and dries quickly, with a more viscous consistency than most liquid lipsticks I’ve tried. Tip: Stick to thin layers. At first it’s a bit sticky, but then it dries to a nice matte texture that, while initially very dry-feeling, is actually more comfortable than a lot of matte lipsticks I’ve tried,” said Lebsack.

Although the Kylie Lip Kits are sold out (for now), they are being sold on sites like eBay for ridiculous prices (upwards of $300!).
