This Lash Primer Transformed My Stick-Straight Eyelashes Into Falsies
by Daniela Galvez
I, like many women, was born with stubbornly-straight lashes that droop after several hours. Whether I try incorporating a lash curler into my routine or apply several layers of mascara, nothing has a lasting effect on my lashes. While many have suggested eyelash extensions as a solution for the fullness I desire, the thought of sitting still for two hours makes me uneasy.
With lash extensions out of the picture, I decided to go on a mission to find a product that would take my downward-facing lashes to the next level. Through my search, I quickly discovered DIOR Diorshow Maximizer 3D Triple Volume Plumping Lash Primer. With a 4.5-star rating and over 500 reviews on Sephora, this unique primer is formulated with an air-pumped texture that adds intensity to the lashes. Claiming to improve thickness, curl, and the look of lashes, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to try the primer myself. I went to the closest Sephora and sure enough the lash primer was there waiting for me.
To truly test if the product lived up to its claims, I decided to apply the primer to just one eye. I applied the Dior lash primer as I would any other mascara: Starting at the roots, I used the rubber applicator to gently sweep upwards in a wiggling motion. Rather than combing the product through my lashes, I found that the side-to-side movement at the base ensured it would target those hard-to-reach lashes. After successfully coating my lashes, I let them dry for 30 seconds before applying mascara. Judging from the picture, you can already see a huge difference in volume and length. While my downward-facing lashes on the right are non-existent, on the left there’s added length and volume.
Next, it was time to apply my mascara of choice — Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. Known for its iconic hourglass wand, this bestselling prestige mascara has been my preferred product for definition. Ensuring to wipe the excess mascara off the wand before application, I took the brush and wiggled it back and forth from roots to tips to add volume and prevent clumps. For me, one coat is never enough, so I added a second.
First impression? Oh, the fullness! While my lashes were significantly longer on the side with the primer, it was the voluptuous volume that shocked me. Sure, my lashes didn’t have the exact drama you normally achieve with extension, but it added thickness reminiscent of the faux-lash look. On the primer-less side, the Better Than Sex Mascara offered delicately feathered lashes, but ultimately fell short with volume. In terms of longevity, after a full day of wear, I experience zero smudging or flaking.Though the entire process added about five minutes to my already lengthy beauty routine, the results made up for the extra time.
Tired of the time commitment involved with lash extensions? Want lashes with sky-high length? In that case try DIOR Diorshow Maximizer Lash Primer. You can snag your own at Sephora and see the amazing results for yourself. After all, life is short, but your lashes don’t have to be!
