Makeup Matches: Seven Winning Eye-and-Lip Combos

Remember playing Memory as a kid? You flipped the cards, trying to match two cards by memory. Sometimes finding the right eye-and-lip pair can be a lot like that game—challenging! We think makeup should be anything but stressful, so we took the work out of it, pairing colors you'll love. Some are tried-and-true, and others are less expected, but that's what makes them go so well together. Here are 7 pairings you'll love!

Navy and Peach

Blue and orange are opposite each other on the color wheel. This we know. But before you grab a cobalt and a coral, try a sultry navy with a soft peach lip! This is a modern take on the smoky eye with nude lip! Try NARS Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow in Giove paired with NYX Butter Lipstick in Candy Buttons.

Bronze & Soft Pink

One of my favorite soft but sexy combos is a bronze eye with a medium tone—soft pink. It doesn't read too summery or too fallish, making it an ideal combo to take you through the seasons. Stila Eye Shadow in Golightly with BITE Beauty Luminous Creme Lipstick in Vento is a winning pair.

Charcoal & Orchid

Our natural instinct is to pair a charcoal gray with a nude lip. However, I love an unexpected cool-on-cool combo like charcoal and magenta! Both colors are in the cool shade range, and they look appropriately moody for fall when put together. NYX Nude Matte Eye Shadow in Craving plus Too Faced Melted Lipstick in Melted Orchid equals major drama.

Copper & Wine

Fall and winter makeup is rich and full of depth and dimension. Nothing looks more royal than copper lids and a deep, burgundy wine lip. Ardency Inn Modster Manuka Pigments in Copper with Kat Von D’s Studded Kiss Lipstick in Prayer is a stunning duo!

Gold & Hot Pink

I love warm-on-warm combinations, such as this true gold metallic shadow with hot pink lips! This pairing is girl's night out–approved! L'Oreal's Infallible Eyeshadow in Eternal Sunshine matched up with NARS Audacious Lipstick in Michiyo creates a flirtatious look!

Purple & Nude

Because purple is such a strong color on its own, let it reign queen by topping lips with a sparkly, champagne gloss like Stila's Silk Shimmer in Kitten. Sephora Colorful Eyeshadow in Midnight Kiss is a classic violet hue.

Latte & Red

There are few looks more classic than a red lip, but balance is key to wearing it right! My favorite way to wear a bold red lip is to pair it with matte, latte colors on the eyes. The lips take center stage, and the eyes remain soft and natural. Try Make Up For Ever Artist's Shadows in M540 with Maybelline Sensational Vivids in On Fire Red.
