The Target Beauty Collaborations We're Hoping for this Year

Who would've thought that Target would take a leap into the world of limited edition beauty collaborations and collections?

Impressive designer collaborations have become a staple of the Target shopping experience, but the retail giant is hoping it can take the plunge and use a similar strategy to take over the beauty industry. Instead of using fashion designers like Lilly Pulitzer and Zac Posen, they will be turning to makeup artists and brands like Sonia Kashuk and BeautyCounter to have you running to the nearest store with your credit card in hand.

BeautyCounter is the collaboration that will get the ball rolling. Available from September 12th until November 5th (though we all know it will sell out well before then), this collaboration is the one that will decide where Target will go next. BeautyCounter is the perfect brand to start things off—not only are the products non-toxic, but the brand is only three years old, and already a cult favorite. Since September is so far away, while we're anticipating the latest release, here are some beauty collaborations we hope to see in the coming months:

1. Cargo Cosmetics
This brand is one of our favorites for many reasons. With waterproof formulas (even swim-proof!) and bold pigments it's no question that a Target beauty collab would be awesome. The packaging is fresh and modern and a collab would allow the brand to reach a whole new customer population (plus the beauty lovers who are already obsessed with it).

swimmable eye pencil

Cargo Cosmetics SWIMMABLES™ EYE PENCIL, in Loch Ness Navy, $18, Cargo Cosmetics

Cargo Cosmetics SWIMMABLES™ WATER RESISTANT BLUSH, in Los Cabos, $26, Cargo Cosmetics

Tinted Moisturizer

Cargo Cosmetics TINTED MOISTURIZER SPF 20, $34, Cargo Cosmetics

2. Tarte Cosmetics
A brand that's all about creating high performance naturals (meaning the products are vegan-friendly and paraben-free) is a brand that would be a perfect fit for a Target beauty collaboration. The amount of buzz Tarte was able to create for its latest collection, Rainforest of the Sea shows that the brand has the potential to reach a lot of people, quickly, so there's no doubt that the collection would sell out in minutes. Plus, their packaging is drop dead gorgeous, and that's an understatement.

cleansing gel

Tarte Cosmetics Deep Dive Cleansing Gel, $25, Tarte Cosmetics

lip crayon

Tarte Cosmetics Tarteist Lip Crayon, $18, Tarte Cosmetics

Tarte Cosmetics Double Duty Beauty Eye & Cheek Palette, in Classic Courage, $28, Tarte Cosmetics

3. Urban Decay
Edgy, unapologetic, bold. Three words that describe this California-based beauty-junkie favorite. A collaboration with this brand would inspire true madness à la Alice Through the Looking Glass or one of their other eclectic collections or product lineups like their latest lipstick collection, Vice Lipstick (who's face is none other than OITNB star Ruby Rose).

primer potion

Urban Decay Eye Shadow Primer Potion, $20, Urban Decay

Urban Decay Naked Basics Eyeshadow Palette, $29, Urban Decay

Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner, $19, Urban Decay
