Rihanna’s Beauty Tutorial Gives Us 8 Secrets To Flawless Summer Makeup

Rihanna gets real and reveals her go-to going out look for summer. Spoiler: It involves a lot of highlighter.

Rihanna proves, once again, that she’s the Barbadian beauty queen with a 10-minute summer makeup tutorial using all her favorite—some still unavailable—Fenty Beauty products. What else would she use after building undoubtedly one of the greatest modern beauty empires, all while simultaneously continuing her Fenty Puma collab, launching the body-pos lingerie line Savage x Fenty, and preparing for her upcoming role in the female-lead Ocean’s 8 next month?

The Bad Gal never stops, but shows she still knows how to have a good time with a super relatable get-ready-with-me (and multiple attempts at an intro) as she uncovers the secret to her famous golden glow. We broke it down into her best tips for a flawless summer face.

“I want to give you guys a vibe,” she says. “And my vibe for summer is more is more.”

1. Don’t Be Afraid Of Foundation

“I like to get messy with it,” she says while applying a whole three pumps of her Fenty Pro Filt'r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation in shade 330. RiRi’s not one to shy away from a full-coverage look, especially if it’s for a fun night out.

2. Make Your Contour Your Own

"Very important to contour your face for your face, not the way you see on every YouTube tutorial, because everybody has a different shape," Rihanna adamantly explains.

Who would’ve guessed she learned how to contour like a queen after gaining a little weight? Not us, but we’re living for these tips! She also shares that blending into your hairline is an absolute must. “I hate to see that line between your forehead and your hair; it should just blend in naturally," she says. And don’t forget about your neck. “You always want to do a triangle”, she explains, “to give you that long neck situation.”

3. Concealer Can Do It All

“Everyone knows concealer is made for hiding bags and dark circles and hangovers and bad decisions,” she says as she warms up a lighter shade of her Match Stix Matte Skinsticks on her hand before applying underneath her eyes, on the bridge of her nose, and just underneath her eyebrows. It’s truly the cure-all.

4. Don’t Go Anywhere Without Blotting Powder

Blotting powder is an absolute must in Rihanna’s book. “When you get greasy on the fly, honey, it is no joke,” she insists while setting her foundation, contour, and concealer with the Fenty Beauty Invisimatte Blotting Powder.

5. It’s Just Makeup, Play With It

Bad Gal RiRi is always breaking the rules, and makeup is no exception. Bronzer isn’t just for definition, but for everywhere to “warm up” her face and “bring life” to her eyes. Multitasking at its finest!

Giving us a peek of what looks to be a new hot pink and golden orange eyeshadow duo or new Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter (who knows?), Rihanna swipes the fuschia-toned pigment across her eyelids for a little “eyelid drama”.

“Because it says summer, sunset, love, drama, bitches!” Whatever you say, girl, but we are really digging that bright pop of color. She dips back into the duo with the Fenty Cheek-Hugging Brush (her “shark tooth brush”) to apply the same pink to the apples of her cheeks.

6. You Can Cover Up Under-Eye Bags With Dark Eyeshadow

Rihanna admits her busy schedule means little sleep for the popstar/beauty entrepreneur. Her ingenious trick for tired under-eyes is to blend a bit of dark brown shadow on top of any bags or wrinkles, adding definition while covering up evidence from the long night before.

To make her eyes even more wide awake, she pops a bit of gold powder to the inner corners. "I like to do the corner of my eyes because it gives you a little zest or oomph," she purrs.

7. Let Your Highlight Really Shine

"I could get really carried away when it comes to highlight. I really could," Rihanna says as she layers the third Fenty highlighter on her glowing cheekbones.

“I think the key to highlighter is not being afraid of it," she says, dipping into a compact with icy blue and champagne powders. A new Killawatt Highlighter perhaps? We see you, girl.

8. It’s All About The Full-Body Glow

Before Rihanna created Body Lava, her latest dazzling creation, she would use crushed up eyeshadow and oils to create the same radiant effect back in Barbados. With her body kabuki brush, she buffs the shimmering oil into her chest and shoulders, admiring her “glorious” body glow as she poses for the camera.

After only 10 minutes, RiRi is ready for the night. And where’s she off to? “We going to the clurrrrrb!” she says while taking one last look at her work. With a twirl, hair flip, and goodbye kiss, she’s out—looking like a true baddie. If you need us, we will be mastering this look for our next night out (and obviously waiting for the rest of these Fenty Beauty products to drop).
