My Current Drugstore Makeup Faves for Winter
I get super excited when I find good drugstore makeup. These winners are all affordable, widely available, and perform as well as other more expensive cosmetics. Behold: My favorite drugstore makeup for winter!
Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains
For dry lips this winter, these balm stains moisturize while adding beautiful color. With a similar moisturizing texture and minty scent, these stains are a perfect dupe for the Tarte Lipsurgence. They are sheer and available in glossy and matte finishes. I have the color Romantic, which is a nice reddish-berry stain. See the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in action in this makeup tutorial video and this one, too!
Revlon Nearly Naked foundation
Nothing will ever beat my NARS Sheer Glow foundation, but this is a really nice drugstore foundation for saving some money when you need to shift to a paler winter shade! The coverage is medium and the color range is pretty decent. I have it in Shell, which is a little too light for me, but with a little bronzer, I can easily make it work. Plus, it's only 10 bucks!
Maybelline Sensational Vivids Lipcolors
I am really loving bright lip colors this winter. Don't be afraid to use vivid shades when the temperatures drop! I love Brazen Berry and have found it to be a perfect stand-in for Buxom's Full Bodied Lipstick in Swinger. I am also super excited about Vivid Mandarin, a gorgeously unique orange red. I haven't found a high-end comparison for this particular shade, and I love the way it lights up my pale winter face! Maybelline Sensational Vivids aren't the creamiest lipsticks I've ever used, but for color play, you simply can't beat the price.
Wet and Wild Mega Liner Liquid Eye Liner
I have a friend whose cat eye liner is always perfect. She told me this is what she's always uses. I didn't believe it until I tried it for myself. The short-handled applicator makes it easy to get close to your eye and easily create an elegant line. It wears well and doesn't fade in color. They make a waterproof version as well. And it's oh-so easy on the makeup budget.
Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eye Liner
This is a silky smooth, easy-to-apply gel liner at a great price! A winged-out cat eye is fresh and modern with a bold lip for winter and Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eye Liner makes that easy to create. I love the glass jar packaging as well which keeps the liner from drying out too quickly. Plus, they have colors beyond black, like Eggplant that would be gorgeous on green eyes!
Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs Leg Makeup
I had often heard that this product was a lifesaver. Now that I've finally tried it, I can confirm that it totally rules. I wanted to wear a cute sequinned mini skirt for my birthday party last month, but being that it's the middle of winter, my legs were not ready to see the light of the day, because they hadn't seen any light for that matter for many months. I sprayed the Medium Glow shade onto my St. Tropez Tan Applicator Mitt and applied it to my legs. It was non-sticky, did not transfer onto my furniture and made me feel infinitely more confident wearing a skirt in December. Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs Leg Makeup is basically a cheaper version of the LORAC TANtalizer Body Bronzing Spray. It even smells alike!
So, next time you're at the drugstore, cruise the beauty aisle and pick up a few of my current drugstore makeup faves!
