NYFW Beauty: Lipstick, Liner, and More

The beauty looks that walked NYFW for spring 2014 inspired us to play! Here are my three favorite looks from designers with looks ranging from minimalist to avant garde. Plus: How you can create them!

Marc Jacobs
I call this makeup look a 'wearable Cleopatra.' The model (left) wore a stunning turquoise liner, a standalone color. The vibrant shade along the lash line was all that was needed to make a statement–no lipstick or other colors necessary. I used my Sigma E11 brush and the Sephora Collection Jumbo Liner 12HR Wear Waterproof in Turquoise (right). Since the goal was to achieve a simple, skinny line, I took the E11 brush and dipped into the pencil. I began lining my bottom lash line starting from the inner corner and extending past the outer corner for a skinny wing. I concentrated the color at the inner corners of my eyes for a vivid pop of color.

Prabal Gurung
The makeup at Prabal Gurung (right) makes me so happy! A simple liner and a bright pop of lipstick are the quickest way to wear a festive look. I lined my lids (right) with my Eyeko Eye Do Liquid Eyeliner, followed with the Eye Do Mascara. A bright, lively coral on my lips with "Play Date" lipstick by Dose of Colors is an instant mood lifter!

Jill Stuart
This was actually my favorite look (right) to recreate because it took just five minutes to add this much drama to my eyes! I used my Givenchy Magic Kajal pencil and applied it to the outer half of my lids (right) up to my crease as well as the outer half of my bottom lash line. I wasn't careful in the way I applied–it was actually very messy! But not to worry, because using a blending brush diffused all the harsh edges for a smoky look. Finally, I went back to my Sephora IT Palette from the holidays and applied the metallic silver eye shadow to the inner corners of my eyes and extended halfway onto my lids and my bottom lash line, blending just a bit with the black. A little mascara finished the eye.
