All Aflutter: Butterfly Nail Art for Spring

The butterflies aren't out just yet—April showers bring May flowers bring June butterflies?—but you can certainly feature them in your next nail look. Don't worry; this butterfly nail art is as easy as it is adorable.

Butterfly Nails

What better time to do my first butterfly nail art tutorial than during the first few weeks of spring? Okay, the butterflies haven't come out quite yet, but I just couldn't wait any longer! I love this simple butterfly look because it's so cute and festive, but the best part is how customizable this look really is. I added a bit of glitter to mine, but if you'd like, you can add spots instead or just leave it plain. It's all up to you! You'll need a nude base coat, two shades of pink polish, a small nail art brush, black acrylic polish, a clear topcoat, and glitter if desired. Learn how to create these nails below:

Butterfly Nails: Steps 1-2

1. Paint your nails with a nude base; I used OPI's My Vampire Is Buff. Then, using a small brush and a pink nail polish, draw the shape of a bow, and add two smaller circles underneath to form the wings of the butterfly.

2. Using a lighter pink shade, lightly paint on the body for more detailed butterfly nail art.

Butterfly Nails: Steps 3-4

3. Using black acrylic paint, paint a line up the center of the body and add two small antennae to the heads of your butterflies.

4. If you wish, add glitter to the wings. And remember to seal your design with a topcoat.
