Negative-space nails continue to be a favorite among nail art fanatics. There are so many options available, and they all look equally effective, but floral nail art is always a warm-weather favorite. This look combines big and small flowers to make a look that really pops but doesn't overwhelm. Paint big flowers on most of your nails, and accent them with small flowers on your ring finger, or vice versa! Choose subtle pastels like we did or go bold with jewel tones or even neon. The opportunities for customization are endless!
You'll need a base coat, a topcoat, a striper brush, a small detailing brush, a dotting tool, and nail polishes in light pink, light blue, white, and yellow. Follow these simple steps to get the look yourself.
1. Paint your nails with a clear base coat. I also added a coat of very pale pink to make the design pop, but your naked nail will work just fine if you'd rather not add the pink. Then I used a striper brush to create an 8-pointed star shape on my middle nail and filled in the lines to create petals.
2. Repeat the previous step in various colors on your thumb, pointer, and pinkie finger. Leave the ring finger clean for a small flowered accent nail.
3. Using a small detailing brush and the same colors you used on the other nails, create smaller flowers. The painting technique will be similar to the larger flowers, except the smaller flowers will have only five petals as opposed to eight.
4. Using a dotting tool and yellow nail polish, add in the centers of your flowers. Once everything is dry, seal in your design with a clear topcoat.
That's all! Your nails are ready for whatever the rest of summer throws at you. For more nail art from Alice, go to One Nail to Rule Them All.
