Glow Recipe Is Adding A New Watermelon Mask, So Get It Before The Waitlist Starts

Send out the alert! K-Beauty brand Glow Recipe is dropping a new watermelon mask alongside the original—you remember, the one with the 8,000-person waitlist?

When news dropped this week that K-Beauty sensation Glow Recipe dropped a brand-new watermelon mask, there was understandably an internet frenzy. After all, the original Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask was released, it garnered a massive 8,000-person waitlist. Needless to say, if you’re part of Glow Recipe’s dedicated cult following—or if you’re new and want to be—you’ve got to make your move, STAT.

Coming June 1, the new Watermelon Glow Jelly Sheet Mask looks totally unique. First off, it’s almost entirely transparent, so you could pull a Katy Perry and wear it out in public relatively discreetly. The very slight pink tint is from all the real watermelon goodness used to create it. Which leads me to the second unique point: The watermelon sheet mask is entirely cotton-free and made from watermelon fruit and extract with gums—natto gum, carob gum, and others—to create a gel, almost jelly, texture on your skin. Third, not only do the ingredients help it stick right to your skin so you can do other things around the house while you’re hydrating, but it comprises two parts—one for your forehead and nose and one for your cheeks and chin—so you don’t have to struggle in a one-size-fits-all sheet mask.

Glow Recipe is already sharing images on its Instagram of how the Watermelon Glow Jelly Sheet Mask looks and fits IRL.

While, I know, I know, you’re not supposed to judge a book by its cover, the new packaging is straight-up adorable. The mask sits in a tray that looks like a little slice of watermelon—perfect for summer.

Watermelon isn’t just great for your skincare routine because it smells delicious (though it definitely does). The key in watermelon is “water.” It brings big hydration to your skin, without some of the acids in other fruits that can irritate sensitive skin. It contains Vitamins A, C, and E and antioxidants, which can restore damage and rejuvenate your skin—especially if your skin is prone to redness, dryness, or even breakouts. Glow Recipe co-founders Sarah Lee and Christine Chang also told Byrdie that watermelon contains citrulline, which conditions and softens the skin, and lycopene, which is a known anti-inflammatory.
