Masked Excitement: Best Face Masks
There's nothing I like more than a good face mask. There's something so relaxing about putting on some comfy sweats, applying a mask, then flipping through a stack of magazines on the couch while you watch some trashy TV in the background. There are so many great face masks out there that I'm constantly adding new ones to my rotation or e-mailing friends about one that they absolutely must buy.
Here are my top picks at the moment:
Dr. Andrew Weil for Origins Mega-Mushroom Skin Relief
I'm obsessed with every Dr. Andrew Weil for Origins Mega-Mushroom product because they're fantastic for sensitive skin that tends to get red when irritated (or even just on a daily basis). The Mega-Mushroom Skin Relief Face Mask helps with that. The creaminess of it makes it super moisturizing and it completely calms my skin down when I put it on. It's like an instant "Ahhhh" whenever it touches my face. It contains a blend of marine algae and moisture-replenishing plant extracts that help to relax stressed-out skin I like to use it at night after a particularly rough day at work so my skin reaps the benefits while I sleep. It's my go to mask at the moment, which makes me think I possibly need a little less stress in my life. Is there a mask I can buy to make that happen?
Ole Henricksen Blue/Black Berry Enzyme Mask
Ole Henricksen is one of my top skin care brands (their spa on Sunset Blvd. in Los Angeles is amazing!), so I was excited to try their Blue/Black Berry Enzyme Mask. It's also marketed to people with sensitive skin, but like the Origins mask, everyone can use it. The gel mask smells amazing, and the calming blend of ingredients helps to renew your sensitive skin. It contains (among other things) lavender, papaya enzyme, blueberries and blackberries, so there are no harsh or chemical ingredients to irritate it at all, and it leaves my skin so soft and smooth. I've been using a sample that someone gave me and I'm definitely going to go out and buy the full size—which, if you could see my stash of face masks, would definitely tell you how much I like it. Remind me again why I still have a credit card bill?
Burt's Bees Intense Hydration Treatment Mask
Burt's Bees has quietly snuck up on me lately and has become one of my favorite drugstore brands. As much as I love the higher-end products, there's something so satisfying about running into the drugstore to pick up laundry detergent or toothpaste and coming out with a fun new makeup or skin care product. If you have dry skin, or even skin that's just dry at the moment, try their Intense Hydration Treatment Mask. It applies a little differently than most masks—you apply a layer of it on your face and neck and leave it on for about five to ten minutes. Then you remove the product with a tissue, which will get most of it off, but not all. As a final touch, you massage the remaining bits into your skin for even more moisturizing goodness— it's super simple and very effective.
Now that you have a few great face masks to choose from, grab your wine or magazines and settle in for a relaxing treatment!
