15 Celebrity Moms Who Kept Their Pregnancy News Quiet
by Effie Orfanides
Some celebrities choose to keep their pregnancy news a secret to keep their personal lives private. These 15 celebs did a pretty good job of keeping their pregnancies out of the media.
Just about a week ago, P!nk announced that she is expecting her second child! She posted this picture on Instagram to make the announcement, but it looks like she’s already quite a few months along!
The Gilmore Girls star welcomed a baby boy in the fall of 2015, but the public had no clue! Word got out this past spring thanks to a slip-up by former Stars Hollow resident and co-star actor Scott Patterson and E! News confirmed the news shortly after. Not surprisingly, Bledel’s 2014 wedding was also top secret!
Eva Mendes and her husband Ryan Gosling are notorious for hiding pregnancies. In fact, Eva gave birth to the couple’s second daughter just two weeks after the paparazzi snapped a photo of her walking with a giant bag hiding her 8-month baby bump!
This famous singer tried to stay out of the spotlight as much as possible during her pregnancy. She wore loose-fitting dresses and a lot of black-hued clothing whenever she had to go out in public to make sure she could pull it off — and she did!
Perhaps an impossible feat, Anna Paquin was able to keep her pregnancy under wraps whilst filming True Blood — and she was expecting twins! Although it’s clear that she and co-star husband Stephen Moyer are parents, the couple didn’t reveal their babies’ sexes or names, Charlie and Poppy, for months after they were born.
Following her split from Brian Austin Green, Megan Fox wanted to keep her third pregnancy a secret — especially because it meant that the world would know that she and Green reconciled. Journey River Green was born on August 4.
While pregnant with her daughter Olive, Drew Barrymore kept her pregnancy quiet the whole way through. She tried to do the same with Frankie but eventually let people know. Earlier this year, Barrymore decided to get her daughters’ names inked on the inside of her wrist.
Uma Thurman’s third baby wasn’t too much of a *secret* since her bump was obvious, but she didn’t share any details about her new addition. In fact, she and Arpad Busson chose to keep their baby’s name secret for months.
At 49 years old, Laura Linney decided to keep her last pregnancy a secret because she was concerned about being able to conceive and give birth to a baby at such an “advanced” age. We’re happy to say her son Bennett was happy and healthy.
The Americans star did her absolute best to keep her baby news on lock. In fact, Keri was able to continue filming while shooting around her bump. Perhaps the best part, however, is the fact that Keri welcomed her little one without anyone actually finding out. It wasn’t until the paparazzi spotted her and beau Matthew Rhys carrying their newborn in Brooklyn weeks later that the world knew the actress had given birth!
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds kept their first pregnancy quiet and were able to welcome their daughter James without anyone knowing. The couple even kept the child’s name secret for several months. Blake was a bit more open about her second baby (she had little choice as she was promoting The Shallows with her baby bump in tow), but the baby’s name hasn’t been revealed yet. Although there are only a handful of photos of James circulating online, no photos of the couple’s newborn have surfaced yet.
Although many people knew that Leighton Meester was expecting Adam Brody’s baby, no one actually knew that she gave birth. If it wasn’t for her son’s birth certificate, the public would have only had the “nine-month rule” to go by.
Although Isla Fisher and Sacha Baron Cohen have three children together, the couple is extremely private when it comes to their family. The public found out about Fisher’s third baby when she dropped out of Now You See Me 2. She never actually made an announcement, even after she gave birth.
Although Sandra Bullock didn’t have a baby bump to hide, she kept her two adoptions quiet until the right time. She adopted her son Louis in 2010 and adopted little girl Laila in 2015.
Not unlike Bullock, Charlize Theron adopted two children and went through each process quietly. Her first child, Jackson, was adopted from her home country of South Africa, and her daughter August was born in the U.S.
