From the struggles to build his career to hidden talents and eccentric pastimes, here are 15 things you probably didn’t know about Chris Pratt.
After graduating from high school in Washington State where he grew up, Chris Pratt studied acting at a local community college, like a lot of young hopefuls. But he dropped out halfway through his first semester. This was his first head shot!
He Was Homeless in Paradise
After dropping out of college he moved to Hawaii, where he worked part-time and lived in a van. Pratt told The Independent: “It’s a pretty awesome place to be homeless” and acknowledged it could have been much worse.
Met His Wife on a Movie Set
Pratt met future wife actress Anna Faris while making 2007’s Take Me Home Tonight. She was married to Ben Indra at the time, so Pratt didn’t initially pursue her, but the two ended up marrying a year later after she left her husband.
Has a Gun Arsenal
Being in a high-profile business, many celebrities have guns for self-defense, but Chris Pratt owns an arsenal of 30 to 40 guns and bought one for Faris in case there’s trouble while he’s away filming.
Comes from a Tight-knit Family
His immediate family, which includes his parents along with an older brother and sister, has always been tight-knit. His siblings currently live nearby, and his brother helped him transform his body for Guardians of the Galaxy.
He Was a Stripper
It was more of a sideline than a profession, but at age 18 he worked as a stripper at a few parties. According to Pratt, he loved getting naked and decided he might as well get paid for it.
Chris Pratt has a large collection of preserved insects. This was not a turnoff for Anna Faris because she actually had a dead bug collection of her own, which was combined with his when they got married.

Considering he was born in Minnesota and raised in Washington State, it just makes sense that Pratt appreciates the great outdoors. He still enjoys getting away from the city to go hunting, fishing, and camping.

Among Pratt’s strange assortment of pre-movie-star jobs was a stint as a coupon salesman, which involved going door-to-door in order to get clients. Fortunately, it wasn’t too long before Hollywood came calling.

In addition to his acting and musical skills, Pratt has a little-known talent for visual art. He spent a lot of time drawing while growing up and even painted a mural for his friend’s Greek restaurant.
