Camila Cabello Quits Fifth Harmony In A Shocking Move
"After four-and-a-half years of being together, we have been informed via her representatives that Camila has decided to leave Fifth Harmony."
UPDATE 6: It's hard to forget all the drama that went down when Camila Cabello seemingly abruptly quit Fifth Harmony last December. There was a ton of back-and-forth between Cabello and the rest of the girl band, and who knows what truly happened amidst the five women?
However, Cabello has officially put a pin in her time with 5H as she took to Twitter this week to announce the release of her first solo single, "I Have Questions," on Friday. The song will be the lead track from her upcoming album, The Hurting the Healing the Loving.

It wasn't a typical album announcement, though. The singer used her post to reveal the inspiration behind writing the song, and the super-emotional statement reveals just how unhappy Cabello was in the band.
The statement reads:
"the hurting the healing the loving" is the story of my journey from darkness into light, from a time when i was lost to a time when i found myself again. The story behind the album starts with the second song that you'll hear called "I have questions," which I started writing in a hotel bathroom on tour a little over a year ago. i was completely broken during that time, i was in the kind of pain that's uncomfortable to talk about, and it was the kind of chapter you never want read out loud…i couldn't write another song for 6 months because writing meant i had to feel everything, and i wasn't ready to that just yet, so when i graduated from hotel bathrooms to studios to make my first album, i was making music about everything BUT what i was going through, it was like a secret burning on my tongue and for some reason i could not get myself to say it. till one day i could just not run anymore. i pulled up the lyrics from the year before, and "I have questions" was written. After that i wrote a sad song everyday, everything i wanted to say, every lyric on my phone, i said everything until i got tired of writing about it. Until i was sick of the sad songs!!!!! as i got happier and happier, i realized the songs were getting happier and happier. and i realized i wasn't making music just to make an album anymore, i was making this music to heal. it wasn't until i had made enough songs to listen back to and realized i could hear myself coming back through these songs. i didn't write it with the intention of delivering a message, but i realized the message was in the hurting, the healing, the loving. i might have thought the hurting was my enemy before, but she becmoe the best listener…i might have thought i was too impatient for the healing, and it did feel like sometimes she was taking forever, but i realized it made me appreciate her so much more when she arrived. and the loving, i wouldn't have known how beautiful she was if i couldn't miss her all that time.
to the hurting, than you for teaching me that even if at night you take me into the deepest depths of the ocean, i will still wake in the morning.
to the healing, thank you for the tears. when they finally came, they tasted like God.
to the loving, you are even more beautiful than i remember."
Wow. If her new single is anything as beautiful as that post, Cabello is going to do more than fine on her own. Stay tuned for her new track on Friday!
UPDATE 5: It's been an absolutely crazy couple of weeks for Fifth Harmony. Following the seemingly abrupt departure of Camila Cabello and conflicting statements among the two parties, the drama has yet to slow down.
Although it originally leaked three weeks ago, Cabello's first song post-Fifth Harmony has officially dropped, and of course we can't stop dancing.
Guuuys !!! LOVE INCREDIBLE is out !!!! So honored to be part of this amazing artistic project from the incredible @CASHMERECAT ❤❤❤🌹

"Love Incredible," is a collab with DJ and producer Cashmere Cat (think: Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, Selena Gomez) and is include in his upcoming album Wild Love, so ~technically~ we won't get Cabello's first solo song until her debut album later this year. Until then though, feast your ears on their new banger. We dare you to try and not dance.
UPDATE 4: Cabello has recently come forward to share her thoughts on often feeling sexualized as a member of 5H and the tendency for it to sometimes get out of hand.
"Especially with being in a girl group, there's been a lot of times where people have tried to sexualize us to just get more attention," she told Lena Dunham in a Lenny Letter interview just days before her departure from the group. "Unfortunately, sex sells."
The singer went on in the interview to discuss how she didn't feel that there was anything wrong with appearing sexual when comfortable in one's own skin, praising Rihanna as a perfect example.
"If you want to share that with people, that's amazing," Cabello said. "I love that. Look at Rihanna. She's so sexy. She comes from Planet Sexy. I worship her. I really, really do."
UPDATE 3: The remaining members of Fith Harmony seem to be doing just fine without Cabello, as they shared their first official group photo to Instagram as a foursome on Thursday.
The photo, simply captioned, "Twenty Seventeen," featured the group looking absolutely flawless in all red. And in case there was any question as to whether or not they've moved on yet, they also replaced their header photo on Twitter (which had originally included Cabello), updated their user picture to not include her and wiped the former fifth member's name from the band's bio. It seems like the group is ready to get to "work, work, work, work, work," and totally put Cabello and 2016 behind them!
UPDATE 2: In statements on statements on statements, Fifth Harmony posted a lengthy response via Twitter on Monday evening to Camila Cabello's Instagram post. Cabello's post had been in retaliation to the group's original statement, but obviously, they felt that more needed to be said on the situation.

At the end of the lengthy statement, the remaining four members stated that they were "done engaging in this back and forth." However, Cabello has not responded to the response, so who knows? Maybe there's even more shade to be thrown.
UPDATE: Things might not be looking so hot for the remainder of the Fifth Harmony singers, either, as a leaked audio clip went viral on Monday, in which a person believed to be Lauren Jauregui is heard fuming about seemingly harsh and unfair practices during their recording times.
"They're making decisions on a regular basis to f*** us over!" she is overheard assumedly saying to band member Ally Hernandez. "To make us literal slaves! Literally slaves, Ally. We're doing f**king labor ever day and we see nothing!"

In a surprising turn of events, Fifth Harmony revealed that singer Camila Cabello has officially left the popular girl group.
"After four-and-a-half years of being together, we have been informed via her representatives that Camila has decided to leave Fifth Harmony. We wish her well," the group wrote in an Instagram post on Sunday.
However, despite missing their fifth link, the group has promised to continue creating music together.
"We are excited to announce that we will be moving forward with the four of us — Ally Brooke, Normani Kordei, Dinah Jane and Lauren Jauregui — for our fans. We are four strong, committed women who will continue with Fifth Harmony, as well as our solo endeavors," they wrote.
TBH, there were plenty of rumors about feuding among the members of the "Work From Home" band. These reports especially escalated around September when Camila Cabello suddenly left mid-show from a concert in Missouri due to anxiety. The group finished the concert as a foursome but canceled half of their European tour later that month.
In addition, Cabello has been working on more solo projects, including teaming up with Shawn Mendes for 2015's hit "I Know What You Did Last Summer," and this year's collaboration with Machine Gun Kelly "Bad Things," which the two have been performing together recently.
On Monday, Cabello Instagrammed a statement, explaining her side of the story to fans and followers, and while it gave us some help with closure, it definitely contradicts Fifth Harmony's original post.
We might never know what actually happened to the group, but we truly wish both the remaining Fifth Harmony singers as well as Camila all of the success and the best of luck!
