11 Celebrities Who Are Bringing Back The Bush
by Hannah Marsh
It should only be up to a woman how she decides to groom her hair “down there.” And in a society where the media pushes a totally hairless look for your lady parts, these celebrities are standing up loud and proud in support of a full-on bush.
On The Ellen DeGeneres Show, in 2013, Gwyneth Paltrow opened up the doors to an entire debate after coming clean about the fact that she “rocks a ’70s vibe.” What a better place to bring pubic hair into the mainstream than through mainstream TV?!
Amber Rose has never been quiet in her efforts to encourage women to claim and freely express their sexuality. So it really came as no surprise when she recently took to Instagram to post a photo of herself wearing a black string bikini stop, diamond choker, sunglasses, a fur coat, and her bush of pubic hair in all it’s God-given glory, which was removed by Instagram shortly after. (Check out the NSFW reposted image here!) The image was in support of her Slut Walk campaign, and we’re totally here for it.
In an interview with Glamour, Ashley Graham candidly answered questions from readers, one being a woman from L.A. who asked if she was the “only single woman with bush?” after she stopped getting Brazilians.
Graham replied, “She sounds like my kind of lady. Honey, I have a full bush. Period. It’s about your preference and your partner’s preference.” Three cheers for that!
In her book The Body Book, Cameron Diaz dedicated an entire chapter to pubic hair, called, “In Praise of Pubes,” describing them as the “lovely curtain of pubic hair that surrounds that glorious, delicate flower of yours,” and adding that they make you more “enticing and mysterious.” Diaz believes that there’s a purpose for those little curly hairs (and she’s right!), so don’t be afraid to let them do their thing.
Fifty Shades of Grey didn’t necessarily go above and beyond expectations in the film world. However, Dakota Johnson, who played Anastasia Steele, still broke some barriers during the film by sporting strategic glimpses of a full-bush instead of the idealized smooth, hairless image Hollywood normally portrays in these kinds of films. Turns out, it was fake, but still to show that image on screen is powerful.
“I’ll use that anywhere from the ends of my hair to my eyebrows to my pubic hair,” she told the magazine. “It’s an amazing all-purpose product.”
The incredible Solange once put out the most *praise-hands*-worthy tweet: “Who ever invented the bikini wax was an evil creature. Who said bushes need to b gone?” All we can do is nod our heads.
Gaby Hoffman proudly flaunted a full bush of hair for Amazon’s Transparent. While answering questions for her choice to go ungroomed for the scenes, she told the U.K.’s Evening Standard, “I’m a human, I have hair … when people want me to talk about whether I think the bush is back, and whether that’s great for feminism, I’m like, ‘You know what’s great for feminism? Respecting everybody’s own choice.'”
*Insert all of the praise hands*
Who can forget when Kourtney’s then-boyfriend Scott Disick helped her groom her lady parts for an upcoming photo shoot on KUWTK? And according to Khloé, Kourtney is “large and in charge with a full ’70s-style bush.”
In 2013, Lady Gaga was on the cover of Candy, a magazine dedicated to celebrating transvestism, transsexuality, cross dressing, and androgyny, and after Gaga’s cover, that list included pubic hair! She wore a fur coat, a mustache, a scorpion pasty, and a proud clump of hair down there!
A couple of years ago, while Miley was showing off her pink underarm hair via Snapchat, we also got a glimpse at a pink-looking lot of pubic hair peeking up over the top of her pants. She even emphasized the look by posting a follow-up image with a lookalike Barbie doll that was also rocking pink pits and pubes!
