Happy Father’s Day to These 17 Great Celebrity Dads
by Rachel Weeks
This Father’s Day, we’ll all be celebrating with—or remembering—our own fathers, but lots of celebrity dads will celebrating as well. Here are 17 of our favorite celebrity fathers and their adorable families.
Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka
Father’s Day is a big day at the Burtka-Harris household. Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka are fathers to two adorable twins. You probably already know Gideon and Harper from NPH’s famous family Halloween costumes. We never got over their perfect Star Wars ensembles.
We know Chris Hemsworth best for his role as the hammer-wielding demigod Thor, but he’s also an incredible family man. Hemsworth can always be found alongside wife Elsa Pataky and his three children. He even baked his daughter India a birthday cake when the bakery couldn’t come through last minute.
While Seal is not with ex-wife Heidi Klum anymore, he is still very much involved in his children’s lives. He is the biological father of Henry, Johan, and Lou Samuel, as well as the adopted father of Klum’s daughter Leni, from a previous marriage. The family can still be seen spending quality time together, long after the couple’s split.
Dedicated husband and father David Beckham cares for his family so deeply that he got Brooklyn, Romeo, Harper, and Cruz’s names tattooed on back. When asked about his kids starting to date, Beckham told ET, “We’re strong parents, and strict parents, but we’re like most parents. We love our kids and we want the best for them.”
Watching Ben Affleck with his daughters Violet and Seraphina and son Samuel, you would assume that he’s just another dad, and not an award-winning actor and director. Affleck can often be seen at baseball games and in the park with his kids. And, despite their recent split, he even reunited with Jennifer Garner to take the kids to church on Easter.
Brad and Angelina are famously busy parents with a whopping six Jolie-Pitt children in tow. Maddox, Zahara, Shiloh, Pax, Knox, and Vivienne are all growing up to have careers of their own now. Zahara, Pax, and Vivienne even acted with their very talented mom in Malificent.
After struggling to conceive with wife Deborra-Lee Furness, Jackman and Furness adoped Oscar and Ava, although he doesn’t think of them as adopted. “Deb and I are believers in I suppose you could call it destiny,” Jackman told Australia’s Herald Sun. “We feel things happened the way they are meant to. Obviously, biologically wasn’t the way we were meant to have children.”
It seems like Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith are running a talent agency right out of their home. The couple, of course, are the parents of Jaden and Willow Smith who are building careers of their own. And Will is father to an older son Trey, who is the subject of Smith’s smash hit “Just the Two of Us.”
Matt Damon has a lot of women in his life. After marrying Miami Beach bartender Luciana Barosso—and filling in the role as step-father to Barosso’s daughter Alexia—Damon fathered three more daughters of his own: Isabella, Gia, and Stella. But Alexia is very much Damon’s own daughter. He even taught her to drive.
Despite being the President of the United States and all, Barack Obama still makes plenty of time to be a father to teenage daughters Malia and Sasha. He said in a speech on Father’s Day last year, “[Dads] are teachers and coaches. They are mentors and role models. They are examples of success and the men who constantly push us toward it.”
Father to three children, Hania, Vincent, and Pauline, Vin Diesel clearly treasures being a father. And when his youngest daughter was born, Diesel thought of his dear friend, the late Paul Walker. “I can remember just like yesterday he (Walker) said that to me, ‘A lot of tough guys will tell you to wait in the hallway, don’t go in the delivery room.'” Diesel explained on The Jonathan Ross show. “But Vin, go into that delivery room, be present and cut that umbilical cord and it will be the best day of your life.”‘
“And so I did that and it was the best day of my life.”
Supernatural actor Jared Padalecki and his wife Genevieve Cortese are the proud parents of two young boys, Shepherd and Thomas. Padalecki’s Instagram is full of pictures of the happy family sliding and cuddling and swinging together.
Jay Z’s relationship with long-time partner Beyoncé has been called into question more than a few times, but his feelings for daughter Blue Ivy have never wavered. His song “Glory” sums it all up quite nicely, “The most amazing feeling I feel / Words can’t describe what I’m feeling for real / Maybe I paint the sky blue / My greatest creation was you.”
Kevin Hart has been busy with a lot of things lately, but he’s a true family man at heart. While he’s not married to their mother anymore, the comedian’s relationship with his children Hendrix and Heaven is as strong as ever. His son Hendrix is even going to be the best man at Hart’s wedding in August.
It’s not hard to guess that the silly and lovable Jack Black would make a good father, but, of course, he is. He shares two sons, Thomas and Samuel, with his wife of nine years Tanya Haden. “Sometimes I’m afraid my little one is going to murder me,” Black joked with Us Weekly. “Sometimes there’s some genuine rage in his eyes. And he told me he’s going to kill me. But I think it’s just a phase.” Haha. Oh no! Let’s hope so!
Perfect couple Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum already have one little girl on their plate, daughter Everly, but they are reportedly expecting another child in the near future. Tatum says he loves being a father, but also knows that it’s scary. “You made this thing and have to bring it into the world together,” Tatum told Vanity Fair. “You think people are going to be there, but ultimately you just have each other. Knock on wood, everything goes well, now you have a baby. They’re like, ‘Okay, here you go.’ They hand it to you, and you’re like, ‘Uh, wait a minute. Aren’t you guys going to come home with us and make sure we’re not screwing this thing up?'”
Chris Pratt is one of our favorite celebrity fathers. He and his wife Anna Faris are parents to an adorable, blond son Jack. We’re always jealous of their perfect little family unit, but never more so than when Pratt taught Jack to fish.
