International Breastfeeding Policy? That’s Messed Up
Ah, I guess I wasn’t aware that being a supermodel made you an expert on everything. This is breaking news; someone should tell Gisele Bündchen …
Gisele seems to think that she reigns supreme as the baby/booby liaison and breastfeeding guru of all the world. Never mind the medical reasons one might have for not breastfeeding, or the obligation to return to work, or the mother’s personal preference—that’s all hogwash! You have to start off breastfeeding whether you like it or not, because Gisele says it should be law!
Calling baby formula “chemical food” in a Harper’s Bazaar UK interview, Gisele said she couldn’t believe a mother would feed it to her children when they are “so little,” and stated, “There should be a worldwide law, in my opinion, that mothers should breastfeed their babies for six months.”
Along with her thoughts on an International Breastfeeding Policy, Gisele imparted one other little gem of wisdom: for all you wimps out there who opt for an epidural, why don’t you grow a pair and give birth to your baby naturally (and in a bathtub), because, as Gisele always says, “It’s called ‘labor,’ not ‘holiday,’ for a reason”?
Gisele, you might be married to Tom Brady (and kudos for that), but what you don’t have is a medical degree. And I believe that when it comes to this matter, that’s all that matters. So please do all the mommies in the world a favor and don’t try to force your beliefs on them. Be it about childbirth, breastfeeding, or cloth diapers, each mother can make up her own mind regarding what’s best for her and her baby.
You seem to have forgotten this, Gisele, and that’s messed up.
