Katy Perry Just Changed “Swish Swish” Lyrics As An Apology To Taylor Swift

Katy Perry’s apology comes just days after Taylor Swift announced her return to Spotify, in an apparent move to steal some thunder from the release of Perry’s new album.

For the past three days, Katy Perry has been livestreaming performances of songs exclusively via YouTube in celebration of her new album Witness. On Monday, as she prepared to cap off the event, she sang her controversial anti-bullying anthem “Swish Swish” which many have determined was written as a diss track aimed at Taylor Swift. During that particular rendition, however, Perry changed a key lyric, and instead of saying, “Don’t you come for me,” in the first verse, she sang, “God bless you on your journey, oh baby girl.”

Perry’s apparent change of heart goes hand-in-hand with a conversation she had with Arianna Huffington just days before, where she expressed that she felt it was time for the two to make amends.

“I’m ready to let it go. Absolutely, 100 percent. I forgive her, and I’m sorry for anything I ever did, and I hope the same from her … All I need to say to her is I love her, and God bless her on her journey. God bless her. Honestly.”

The apology also happened to follow directly behind Taylor Swift’s massive announcement of returning all of her music to Spotify — conveniently on the same day as the release of Katy’s new album. Many speculated that Swift’s decision was made as a subtle dig against the “Firework” singer.

There hasn’t been any word from T-Swift in response to Perry’s public apology, and while we truly want to believe that it’s real and that these two powerful women are finally putting their differences behind them, it’s always hard to know. Either way, we hope for the sake of both the singers and their fans, that they really can let this years-long feud go!
