The 25 Most Sensational Actresses on TV (According to Us)
by Effie Orfanides
Summer time is here and the heat is on. If you’re in need of a new TV show to binge, let these actresses’ talents set your screen on fire.
When it comes to fierce actresses, no one on television is trending more than Game of Thrones actress Emilia Clarke. Her character, Daenerys Targaryen, is the mother of dragons, so you don’t want to mess with her! She’s so hot right now, she’s pretty much fire-proof (spoiler?).
The Flash’s Danielle Panabaker is turning heads fast enough to cause whiplash. Her character, Dr. Caitlin Snow, is one of the biggest (and coolest) science nerds to grace the TV screen in a while. And yes, that’s a thing.
Moving on from nerds, we find Kaley Cuoco, one of our favorite TV actresses. As Penny, the Big Bang Theory’s prototypical girl-next-door, Kaley exudes uniqueness that may defy science itself.
Jennifer Morrison went from hero to villain and back again on Once Upon A Time, but she remained equally captivating through each transition. The blonde beauty is constantly fighting for her family, fighting bad guys, and trying to save Storybrook in just about every episode.
Chloe Bennet kicks plenty of butt on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. As Skye/Daisy, she’s one of the Inhumans, working with S.H.I.E.L.D. to try to take down the bad guys of Hydra. Lucky bad guys.
On Elementary, a modern television twist on Sherlock Holmes, Lucy Liu plays Dr. Joan Watson. Typically, Watson is known for bringing the balance of reason to the table, and Lucy’s Watson also brings some much needed charm.
Willa Holland may have started off simply as hero Oliver Queen’s troublesome little sister on Arrow, but now she’s a badass kicking butt as his sidekick, Speedy. Team Arrow now has some of the most killer women on television.
Don’t let the levity of Modern Family distract you from how seriously amazing Sofia Vergara is. She’s been nominated for a plethora of awards in her turn as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett, but is a unanimous pick for one of the funniest women on television.
Pretty Little Liars’ Shay Mitchell is certainly among the most popular women on television, and that’s the big, beautiful truth. Mitchell’s Emily Fields is definitely one of our favorite characters of all time.
No list of the most exciting women on television would be complete without Jennifer Lopez. On Shades of Blue, J. Lo is calling in a code red for her thrilling series. We’re gonna need that backup ASAP.
Beth Behrs may be playing someone with no money on 2 Broke Girls, but she’s sure rich in the talent department. Television may not be in short supply of blonde actresses, but Beth certainly stands out among the crowd.
Girls actress Allison Williams is another sensation. As the alliterative Marnie Michaels on the HBO comedy-drama, Allison is amazingly outstanding. You’d have to be to get cast for the television role of Kate Middleton.
Oh, to be locked up with Taylor Schilling. It should be a crime to be as hilarious as the Orange is the New Black star. When it comes to being among the most LOL-worthy women on TV, we find Taylor guilty on all charges.
It doesn’t take a detective to figure out why Morena Baccarin is on a list of television’s most electrifying women. One look at the Gotham and Firefly star is enough to solve that mystery (and a few episodes here and there). Case closed!
Scandal’s Kerry Washington is certainly a keeper as well. Her iconic character, Olivia Pope, may deal with some dirty little secrets every now and then, but it’d be impossible to keep her thrilling persona under wraps.
Amanda Crew brings the feminine brains to tech-comedy Silicon Valley. As assistant Monica, she’s charged with interacting with investment clients in a more personable way than her boss, but there’s nothing subtle about this brilliant actress’ charisma.
We much prefer Krysten Ritter as badass, tough-as-nails Jessica Jones than the sultry-but-meth-addicted Jane in AMC’s television phenomenon, Breaking Bad. There’s just something about a woman who can kick butt and change the world.
There may be something weird going down in Wayward Pines but there isn’t anything mysterious about how wonderful Shannyn Sossamon is. She is truly one remarkable and talented actress.
There’s nothing remedial about how charming Community’s Alison Brie is. Viewers may have tuned in for the laughs, but they were sure to be studying her character, Annie Edison, closely. Alison gets extra credit as one of the most likeable women on television.
It might not be easy being cast opposite Zooey Deschanel, but New Girl’s Hannah Simone outshines everyone despite not portraying the main character. She’s easily believable (and downright sarcastic) as model Cece Parekh.
Blindspot’s Jaimie Alexander is overheating television sets with her acting ability. She’s, like, goddess level. No seriously, her character, Sif, in the Thor franchise is actually an earth goddess and Thor’s wife in the original Norse mythology. Another solid casting job by the folks at Marvel.
Describing Nina Dobrev’s eternal charm might be easier than explaining her role on one of television’s most interesting supernatural series, The Vampire Diaries. The Bulgarian-born beauty is at the center of an undead love triangle and her doppelganger played the same role in the past? One thing we’re sure of is that Nina is on fire; the rest is details.
Meagan Tandy portrays mercenary Braeden on Teen Wolf. She’s the “shoot first, look menacing while doing it, what questions?” type. Exactly what was missing from this television adaptation of a classic teen comedy.
Deborah Ann Woll
Whether it’s as mysterious vampire or the ultimate crime-victim-turned-legal-secretary, Deborah Ann Woll is giving us plenty to think about. Her time on True Blood and new role in Daredevil have made her one of television’s hottest commodities of late.
Lucy Hale is Pretty Little Liars’ second entry into the most talked-about women on television. Her Aria Montgomery has plenty of attitude and sass to keep everyone entertained.
