5 Things You Need To Watch For During The 50th CMA Awards
The annual award show is Wednesday, and there are a ton of things to look forward to.
The CMAs are country music's biggest night of the year, and with 2016 marking the 50th anniversary of the award show, Wednesday night is bound to be the biggest and best, yet. While the performances are always top-notch and the outfits are constantly picture-perfect, there is more than ever to be excited for this year!
Here are the top five things we're looking forward to during this year's CMAs. Tune into ABC at 8 p.m. EDT on Wednesday for the entire event, and follow @__mOre___ on Twitter for live updates throughout the night!
1. It's The 50th Anniversary
The CMA's are always a big deal, but as this year celebrates the 50th anniversary of awarding country's best, the awards show is about to be even bigger. In honor of the celebration, a song and accompanying video called, "Forever Country" were released in September, featuring 30 of the biggest names in the industry. And if its debut at No. 1 on the charts is any hint as to how Wednesday night's show will go, this year's awards will be a can't-miss.
2. Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood Will Co-Host — For The 9th Consecutive Year
Nine years in a row, and we're still not sick of them. The fun and lovable duo get a little crazier each year, and we can't wait to see what they have in store for this year's awards!
3. Carrie Underwood's Wardrobe
While we're constantly excited to see which outfits the always-stunning Carrie Underwood chooses to don at the show, we're especially excited for this year. In honor of the 50th anniversary, the cohost will be sporting looks from each of the last five decades. She's been teasing photos of her outfits through her Insta account over the past few days, and it's killing us!
4. Dolly Parton Will Get The Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award
While we have to wait until the actual show to find out most of the award winners, we already know that Dolly Parton will be receiving one of the most prestigious awards of the evening: the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award. While the award has only been around since 2012, previous winners include Willie Nelson (because, duh), Kenny Rogers and Johnny Cash. As a woman who has definitely had an incredible impact on country music, we're stoked to finally see Dolly Parton's name on that iconic list, too.
And as another sneak peek into the evening's agenda, we also get to see Kenny Chesney honored with the ever-so-prominent Pinnacle Award. "Don't blink" or you might miss some of the biggest moments of the night!
5. Randy Travis' Performance
With the exception of a couple of private events earlier this year, Randy Travis has mostly been unable to sing since his stroke in 2013. However, on October 26, the Country Music Association revealed that Travis will indeed be performing at the event. You might want to grab a box of tissues before you sit down, though, because we have a feeling that no matter what the performance entails, it will be one (of many) moments that you won't want to miss.
