The First 5 Minutes Of The New ‘Rocky Horror’ Will Make You Do The Time Warp Again

Laverne Cox, Victoria Justice, and Adam Lambert take center stage in this star-studded new Rocky Horror TV movie.

Get ready to do the time warp again, because Fox released the first five minutes of its new star-studded Rocky Horror Picture Show TV movie late Thursday night. It looks spectacular.

Newcomer Ivy Levan slays as the “usherette,” performing the famous opening number “Science Fiction/Double Feature,” kicking off all the madness to come. It’s a departure from the OG cult-classic movie, but we’re totally on board now.

Levan slinks and dances around the Castle movie theater while its packed with movie-goers, as she sings the iconic lyrics. Unlike many musicals recently — such as Grease, Peter Pan, and The Wiz — Fox’s Rocky Horror won’t be live, but it will be a pre-taped TV movie. Hopefully, that means the production value will up the ante to keep pace with the original.

There’s a lot riding on Fox’s remake, as fans still come out in droves (and in costume) to watch and rewatch (and rewatch and rewatch…) the original movie, based on the stage play of the same name. But so far, everything we’ve seen has been given major thumbs up from even the most loyal.

First of all, there’s the bananas incredible cast.

Dr. Frank-N-Furter himself, Tim Curry, has promised he’ll appear alongside today’s killer stars, including Orange Is the New Black‘s Laverne Cox, who will take on Curry’s original role. American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert is another fan-favorite cast member, and he’ll play Meat Loaf’s role as Eddie, the delivery boy. Victoria Justice steps into Susan Sarandon’s shoes as the heroine, Janet; Cristina Milian will play Magenta; and Penny Dreadful‘s Reeve Carney will take over as Riff Raff.

Prepare the rice to throw your own TV screen and the newspaper to cover your head, because Fox’s Rocky Horror Picture Show comes into your living room on October 20.
