The Olympics Might Be Over, But Laurie Hernandez Continues To Score Big
The Olympic gymnast is definitely a favorite in this season's competition.
It was TV Night on Monday evening's Dancing With The Stars, and in a jive to the theme song for Disney's '90s animated series Duck Tales, Laurie Hernandez and partner Val Chmerkovskiy have already created a level of competition that other dancers are going to have a hard time topping. The Olympic gymnast was dubbed "Disney's Beyoncé" by DWTS judge Julianne Hough, which had to have been the best compliment Hernandez could have gotten considering her recent history with Queen B. The favorited pair came out with a total score of 32, taking one of the top spots of the evening for the second week in a row.
Decked out in a bright red feather-boa-strapped dress complete with a big, loopy bow, facials that could engage even the most stoic of DWTS audience members and that Olympic medal-winning smile that the world has fallen in love with, even Chmerkovskiy told the world of his difficulty playing Scrooge McDuck when he was standing next to her. We can't help but grin watching the duo take on the dance floor so far this season, and Hernandez seemed to feel the same way. "My happiness goes to my cheeks, so I have to grab it to make sure it doesn't fall out," she adorably told host Tom Bergeron.
She might not have the trophy yet, but this Olympic medalist already has our hearts.
