Zayn Malik is Bringing His Boy Band Experience to Your TV Screen

Zayn Malik and Dick Wolf are partnering up to create a One Direction-inspired television show.

Our favorite ex-One Direction member has announced plans to spread his talents in another direction.

Zayn Malik, a former member of the "What Makes You Beautiful" boy band will be joining teams with Dick Wolf — creator of both Law and Order and the Chicago series — and the super producer's wife Noelle Wolf to star as the executive producer of NBC's new drama, Boys.

The show will center on the thrilling highs and emotional lows of being a part of a hugely successful boy band.

Sound familiar at all?

The show, written by Sherri Cooper Landsman and Jennifer Levin, is inspired by the "Pillow Talk" singer's experiences in 1D. The 23-year-old has been notorious for opening up about his time in the famed boy band since parting ways with the other four members in March 2015 to build a solo career.

Simon Cowell, credited with forming 1D during "The X Factor" in 2010 and known for not always seeing eye-to-eye with Malik, expressed his disagreement to Entertainment Tonight with the singer's approach to the show.

"I do actually believe that when they've got these ideas, bearing in mind where we started, they should actually come to me," said the celebrity judge.

The singer-turned-executive-producer has also recently revealed to fans his battle with severe anxiety that stems from his solo performances, which might explain his decision to be behind the camera for a change.

While we might never fully forgive him for breaking our hearts when he called it quits with the rest of 1D, we would be lying if we said that we aren't at least a little intrigued to see the inner workings of the internationally-fangirled boy band.
