Lindsey Stirling has an uncanny way of making us all wish we’d taken music lessons more seriously while growing up. Thankfully, with her unparalleled talent, the performing artist is back at it again with a new music video, The Arena—and it’s nothing short of amazing.

Set literally in an arena, the video is inspired by a famous quote by Theodore Roosevelt from his 1910 Citizens of The Republic Speech: “It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena.” Hence the title, “The Arena”.

Stirling does a brilliant job embodying the essence of this powerful quote, by setting the video in, what seems to be, a post-apocalyptic world. In fact, everything from the warrior-tribe like costumes to the tension and emotion-filled music, suggests that the artist was equally inspired by Oscar-award-winning film: Mad Max: Fury Road.

That said, perhaps the most riveting part of the new ensemble is the mesmerizing display of Stirling’s dance moves with Dancing With The Stars favorite, Derek Hough. Together, the duo performs a passion-filled tango, in front of a savage audience, bringing A LOT of chemistry to the screen. Choreographed by Hough himself, the routine shows how much of a multifaceted artist Stirling truly is. Though we are used to seeing her incorporate some dance moves into her videos, there is no denying that this particular ensemble represents an entirely different side of her.

The talented diva got her break from YouTube back in 2007, and has been captivating millions ever since. Remember her unforgettable cover to Imagine Dragons’ Radioactive? It has earned over 132 million(!) views—and there’s plenty more where that came from.
