14 Ridiculous Celebrity Rumors That Made Us Go, "Huh?"

We love some juicy gossip here and there, but sometimes the rumor mill gets a little out of control. Seriously, where do people come up with this stuff?

Steve from Blues Clues Died of a Drug Overdose

1 / 14

Tons of rumors circulated when celebrity Steve Burns left one of the most successful children's programs on television in 2002. Fans fabricated stories about the actor dying in a car accident, having a problem with alcoholism, and being thrown into an insane asylum. Whatever happened to Steve, he left under the premise that his character went off to college on the show (and that's when we had to deal with his replacement, Joe, and that dumb orange sweater. #TeamSteve).

The real reason Steve stepped away? He was going bald. "I knew I wasn't gonna be doing children's television all my life," Burns said. "Mostly because I refused to lose my hair on a kid's TV show, and it was happening—fast."

Angelina Jolie Slept with Her Brother

How could we forget the 2000 Oscars when Angelina Jolie shared a passionate lip-lock with her brother, James Haven? Following the kiss, when Jolie won an Oscar for best supporting actress, she said, "I'm in shock, and I'm so in love with my brother right now."

The actress couldn't stop giggling when she said, "He just held me and said he loved me and I know he's so happy for me." Of course, the Internet went wild after the siblings' show of love, speculating that the two had a sexual relationship. To this day, they both deny being anything more than siblings.

Richard Gere and the Gerbil

Richard Gere himself spoke to the U.K's Metro newspaper, calling this "infamous" story an urban myth. In the early 90's, Gere was coming off of a major success with his film, Pretty Woman. Legend says he was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles for an emergency "gerbilectomy." Apparently, a gerbil was inserted into the actor's rectum with erotic intent.

Not a shred of evidence exists to suggest that this actually happened, but Gere has his suspicions on who started the rumor: Sylvester Stallone. "Richard was [fired from our movie set] and to this day seriously dislikes me," Stallone confessed to Aint It Cool. "He even thinks I'm the individual responsible for the gerbil rumor. Not true... but that's the rumor."

Elvis Presley died on August 16, 1977 at his home in Memphis, but rumors of him faking his death exist even to this day. Even after the National Enquirer published photos of the singer's corpse in a casket, people still report Elvis sightings.

Just last month, the Internet freaked out over a possible Elvis sighting nearly 40 years after his death. A groundskeeper in Memphis caught the attention of Elvis fans everywhere for having similar characteristics to the late King. Judge the resemblance for yourself.

Prince Harry is the Result of an Affair

5 / 14

Ever since Prince Harry came out the womb with bright red hair, conspiracy theorists assumed that he was the result of an affair because he doesn't resemble his ~royal~ family. Princess Diana's affair with the ginger-haired Major James Hewitt waved a huge red flag, but according to Hewitt, the couple didn't meet until after Harry was born. Plus, the late Princess of Wales comes from a family of redheads, including her siblings. Do your research, conspiracy theorists.

Beyoncé Faked Her Pregnancy

After sitting down on an Australian talk show, Sunday Night HD, people began to speculate that perhaps the songstress wasn't pregnant at all. Photos hit the web, pointing out that Beyoncé's baby bump seems to disappear during the interview. Fans wondered if maybe the couple had decided on a surrogate and Queen B had a fake belly. Beyoncé, whose child is now four years old, fired back and told People, "That was crazy. It wasn't hurtful, it was just crazy."

In 1993, rumors surfaced that Saved By The Bell stars Mario Lopez and Mark-Paul Gosselaar died in a terrible car accident. In reality, neither of the actors died, and they both moved on to have somewhat successful TV careers.

Mick Jagger Ate Chocolate out of a Va-jay-jay

Yup, you read that right. Mick Jagger's rock and roll image was only enhanced by the rumor that surfaced in the late 1960's. In an apparent drug bust, British police raided the home of Keith Richards, where they found something incredibly unexpected—and chocolatey.

They claim to have found the Rolling Stones lead singer eating a Mars bar right from his girlfriend Marianne Faithfull's vagina. Everyone involved, including Mick Jagger, said that the cops dreamt up the story and there was never actually any candy action. We don't know if we should be disappointed or relieved.

Lady Gaga is a Man

Over the years, cameras have caught Lady Gaga at bad angles, prompting people to believe that she actually has male genitalia. But of course, being the monster queen she is, Gaga embraced the rumor, saying, "I love the rumor that I have a penis. I'm fascinated by it. In fact, it makes me love my fans even more... 17,000 of them come to an arena every night and they don't care if i'm a man, a woman, a hermaphrodite, gay, straight, transgendered, or transsexual. They don't care! They are there for the music and the freedom."

Cher had Ribs Removed to Look Thinner

10 / 14

In 1988, Cher sued the magazine Paris Match for falsely claiming that she'd had ribs removed to appear thinner. "If that [rumor] were true, how could I do those health club commercials, in which I wear next to nothing? I'd be scarred all over," the singer combatted the rumors with logic. "And could I wear the kind of clothes I do if I'd had all those many operations? Wouldn't there be visible scars everywhere?"

She became so annoyed by the speculation that she consulted plastic surgeon Dr. F V Nicolle to inspect her body and shut down the rumor once and for all.

Marilyn Manson had Ribs Removed to... Uh...

11 / 14

Allow us to give you the *oral* history on Marilyn Manson's 90's rumor. Legend has it that Manson and a few of his bandmates had lower sets of ribs removed so that they'd be able to S their own D's. Because a life-threatening procedure is all worth it if you get to put your own penis in your mouth. This rumor SUCKS.

The Biebs Got a Fan Pregnant

12 / 14

It only makes sense that the "Baby" singer is someone's baby daddy, right? In 2011, 19-year-old Mariah Yeater made claims that she and Justin had sex backstage at one of his concerts—and nine months later, she gave birth to his child. She demanded a paternity test, but Bieber's spokesperson denied all allegations.

Bieber himself tweeted, "Dear mariah yeeter...we have never from the heart i just wanted to say..." and linked to an audio clip of Borat saying "you will never get this." But it didn't end there. In 2014, Yeater gave JB a Father's Day shout-out via Twitter. Yikes. In the words of Justin Bieber, "baby, baby, baby, nooo!"

Miley Cyrus Died and was Replaced by a Look-Alike

13 / 14

A few years back, before Miley Cyrus was the tongue-wagging, booty-twerking goddess we know and love, a rumor arose that suggested the new Miley wasn't just a new personality—she was a completely different person. Speculators wondered if maybe the Hannah Montana, PG-13 version of Cyrus befell some sort of tragedy, and was replaced with a look-alike who happened to love sex and nudity. First of all... Huh? And second of all... WTF?

Michael Jackson is Still Alive

14 / 14

We get that it was hard to let go of the King of Pop, but these fans really can't let him go. Countless Michael Jackson sightings have been reported after his death in 2009 (including these photos from this year), and there are entire websites dedicated to Michael Jackson sightings across the globe. Maybe MJ and Elvis are kickin' it somewhere with Tupac and all the other celebs who allegedly faked their deaths.
