Melissa McCarthy recently lost a bunch of weight and is proud to be a size 14. That said, the actress has learned a lot about body types and says that the "normal" that people generally think about isn't actually normal at all. In an interview with Refinery 29, McCarthy discussed her thoughts on the perfect body.
"I know I am not the 'norm'... I don't know any perfect women. What people pass off as 'normal,' I just have to keep in my head that it's bullsh*t. It's all fictitious, made-up stuff," McCarthy said. "I know some of those women in those magazines who get called perfect or whose butt is supposedly better, and often they don't even look like that in person," she added.
Melissa McCarthy has worked hard to take weight off so she knows all about the struggle. Over the years, she has been "up and down" and she seems to have a good grasp on what clothes look good on her body. She recently released her own clothing line (available in stores and on her website) which caters to women of all shapes and sizes.
"I wanted to build a better closet for myself and other women; interesting seperates [sic], well-made key pieces that can be mixed and matched to express our mood and personal style on any given day," reads a statement on her website.
Melissa McCarthy has lost 50 pounds over the past several months according to Extra. When asked about how she took the weight off, McCarthy was very matter-of-fact (and funny, of course).
"No trick, nothing to tell, just super boring life. You bring it real down, you don't do anything fun and you go to bed at 7:30 — that's the trick," she said. Those who have tried dieting probably know that McCarthy is more right than not!
