She's come a long way since her Hannah Montana days, and now Miley Cyrus is catching everyone's attention for her, um, interesting fashion choices.
2012: MTV Video Music Awards
2012 was the year of change for Miley Cyrus. The VMA's was one of her first major events after chopping her hair, and honestly, she looks great. The Disney starlet sported a black gown from Emilio Pucci with a plunging neckline. We think she nailed the perfect mix of edgy and elegant.
2013: Met Gala
Here's where things get weird. Critics had mixed opinions on this long-sleeve, netted gown by Marc Jacobs. The dress itself isn't so bad, we think it's the spiky hair that really throws everything off.
2013: Billboard Music Awards
Jumpsuits have become quite a trend on the red carpet, but we're not sure what to think of this outfit choice. Miley picked a black-and-white Balmain jumpsuit for the Billboard Music Awards in 2013, and this might be the most covered up she's ever been.
2013: Teen Choice Awards
For the Teen Choice Awards, Miley Cyrus opted for a leather bra and mini, both by Saint Laurent. Compared with her 2007 Teen Choice Awards look–a childish sequinned dress, kitten heels, and long brown locks–this look illustrates the dramatic change between Miley then and now.
2013: MTV Video Music Awards
This outfit is vastly different from her stunning 2012 VMA's ensemble. Miley wore a Dolce and Gabbana crop top and high-waist leggings, each embellished with colorful gemstones that look like they were glued on by Miley herself... Or maybe by her little sister, Noah.
2013: IHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas
What was Miley Cyrus thinking when she picked this outfit? The faux fur white sleeves and mesh dress are the only pieces covering the black pasties and underwear she has on underneath. We get that it's Vegas, but–seriously–where did this outfit inspo come from?
2014: Jeremy Scott and Moschino Party With Barbie
The mesh theme continued into 2014, when Miley donned a neon pink and green crop top and a knee-length skirt for designer Jeremy Scott's event. Although the designer himself wore copious amount of pink, Miley's clothing choices take the cake. Can we get a Barbie wearing this exact outfit?
2014: amfAR LA Inspiration Gala
Just when you thought things couldn't get any weirder. The hitmaker chose a Tom Ford look from the Spring 2015 collection for the amfAR Inspiration Gala in Los Angeles. 4-inch black leather straps are the only things covering her nipples. But hey, the bottom half is a dress. Does that make her halfway normal?
2015: amfAR Inspiration Gala New York City
Alert the presses: Miley Cyrus is wearing an actual gown. We haven't seen an ensemble like this since brown-haired Miley, but of course, this custom Moschino strapless gown features beaded hearts, an oversized bow, and black and red Doc Martens. Overall a chic look, with a twist of crazy Miley.
2015: ONE Campaign 10th anniversary celebration in NYC
Head-to-toe pink glitter is risky, but Miley is obviously a risk-taker when it comes to fashion. She wore a pink glittery tuxedo and white wedges with pink stars for the ONE Campaign bash in NYC. Maybe Miley's channeling her inner Hannah Montana–if there's any left.
2015: A Very Murray Christmas New York premiere
What do you do when you don't have enough hair to put it in buns? You use rope, of course. At least, that's what Miley did. With two rope buns on her head, an intricate white dress, knee-high socks, and Madonna-like platforms, Miley sure stood out at the premiere of A Very Murray Christmas in New York.
2015: MTV Video Music Awards
How could we forget the 2015 VMA's, which featured possibly the most outrageous Miley outfit yet. As the host, she stepped out in a custom Versace outfit (if you can even call it an "outfit"), leaving close to nothing to the imagination. She completed her ensemble with thigh-high boots and Lorraine Schwartz jewels. These looks might be crazy, but we've got to give her credit–Miley's the only person who could ever pull these off.
