Among her laundry list of achievements, add "amazing rapper," to Lupita Nyong'o's endeavors. The Academy award-winner, international filmmaker, and Lancôme spokesperson's fans have shown their support on her Instagram by helping the 12 Years A Slave actress reach three million followers. To celebrate, Nyong'o's "alter ego" gave the world an #instaexclusive video of her freestyle rapping skills (which are actually pretty good if you ask us!)
The black-and-white video touched on several of Nyong'o's projects and various abilities, including her work as a WildAid Global Elephant Ambassador, her ability to speak four different languages, her upcoming role in Star Wars: Episode VIII as well as the release of Queen of Katwe, a Disney film that surrounds an impoverished Ugandan girl's overcoming of obstacles to become a chess champion — a plot that transcends the game itself — that is set to be released in theatres on Friday, September 30.
"Mexican-born, Kenya running through my veins. Dark chocolate, plus I keep a sharp mane," Lupita raps. "Lancôme fresh face, looking tailor-made. Disney on the books, so you know I stay paid."
Nyong'o is outspoken in her desire to create "opportunities for people of color," and as her now-3.1 million Instagram-following proves, she is well on her way to doing just that.
