The Dress Is Back! Crazy Optical Illusions That Divide The Fashion World

It started with #TheDress, and it's regaining momentum with #TheBag. We picked the biggest fashionable illusions and want to know — what color do you see?

Everyone remembers their stance on "the dress" debate, AKA one of the biggest dividers on the Internet illusions in recent years. (I mean, come on, it was obviously blue and black.)

Of course, we should've known social media would want to bring back the "What color is this actually" debate with this dang Kate Spade bag that is sparking the blue/white illusion questions all over again. (It's definitely white.) [Editor's note: it's definitely blue.]

We clearly love the photo illusions — and the speculation behind it all — so we decided to find a few of our the Internet's biggest fashion debates and dare to ask: What color do you see?

Ah, the dress that started it all. The Internet went bat crazy early last year over whether this dress was black/blue or white/gold, and TBH, by the time Halloween came around and everyone was wearing "the dress," we were totally done with it. Though we're totally over #TheDress, we're still kind of amazed.

The Purse

The Purse is "#TheDress" 2.0. The purse has recently made headlines after @whyofcorso uploaded the photo of this bag that clearly looks white, but most people argue is blue. It may appear blue on the site... but we're still skeptical.

The Hair

Besides the serious hair envy, this lady proves just how much lighting can influence our *~imagination~*. The debate really shouldn't be whether or not we see blue or purple — the debate should be when we're going to make our hair a beautiful shade of blue.

The Adidas Jacket

OK, come on internet. Are we really classifying this as an illusion? Tumblr sparked the convo around this jacket, with some users saying it's blue and white, others saying it's brown and black. (It's definitely brown.)

Bernie Sanders' Suit

Besides solely feeling the Bern at the debate in March, people were just as heated on the color of the then-presidential hopeful's suit. Was it brown? Black? Blue?? Social media voted brown, but his campaign aide said it was black. We actually don't know how to feel about this.

This Dude's Shirt

The pattern on this guy's plaid shirt seemingly changed depending on the color of the light in the room.

There's nothing like some good ol' club lighting to confuse a person's senses. While the lighting clearly influences the color we see, we genuinely want to know: what color is the shirt? It's nothing dramatic, but we still kind of love seeing the Internet debate.

The Shoe

If we weren't already speculative of social media's illusion claims, this makes us a bit wary now. The small debate surrounding the color of these heels — purple, pink or a little bit of both — proved that the Internet is desperate for a tussle. (Though, the heels are pink — no doubt about it.)
