13 Awesome TV Dads Worthy of Appreciation This Father's Day

This Father's Day, celebrate with your old man by lounging on the sofa, munching on some snacks, and watching these excellent TV dads. With their painfully funny dad jokes, protective natures and relevant life lessons, you're sure to love 'em almost as much as your own pop.

Although we love Danny Tanner's nurturing attitude and Phillip Banks' strict nature, we feel recent TV dads aren't getting the recognition they deserve. Yes, there are bunches of great fictional family men out there, but these 13 stand out from the crowd and deserve appreciation this Father's Day.

Ted Mosby, How I Met Your Mother

Switched at Birth

Cameron Tucker and Mitchell Pritchett, Modern Family
Every girl wants a gay best friend, but with Cameron and Mitchell, that best friend is also your dad. They are as hilarious as they are caring and we commend them for it.

Talk about the ultimate dad. Adam not only nails his marriage with Kristina, but he also kills is as a parent. He's the perfect balance of humorous and nurturing. He always listens to his kids and always defends them, like punching a guy for calling his son the r-word. *claps*

Bob Belcher, Bob's Burgers
He owns a freakin' burger joint, free burgers! And if that isn't enough to convince you, Bob is always getting into trouble with his wife, but when it comes to fathering he knows what's up. He lets his kids be kids, but he can also be strict when the situation calls for it.

Murray Goldberg, The Goldbergs
Murray tells it like it is. He's never BS-ing his family and that's one of his greatest qualities. We are sure he'd approve of a low-key Father's Day. He knows how to enjoy the simple things in life, like relaxing on weekends.

The Goldbergs

Ned Stark, Game of Thrones
Ned fiercely protects his family. Although he is stern, and often times all business, he also knows when to be kind. He helps his children as much as he can, and never discourages their wishes, like teaching Arya how to sword fight despite gender norms at the time. Now that's a dad to be proud of!

Game of Thrones

Phil Dunphy, Modern Family
He's not a regular dad, he's a cool dad. Although some might think his attempts to fit in are embarrassing, we think his quirky antics show how much he wants to be involved in his kids' lives—and that's a damn good quality in a father.

Modern Family
