Ah, TV. Sure we could go outside or be productive, but is there really anything more satisfying than putting your feet up and flipping on that magical box? We all have our top shows, but let's take a minute to appreciate the family-oriented series, and more specifically, the moms that make them so great. From our childhood favorites to our current obsessions, here are 14 of the best TV moms.
Snow White, Once Upon A Time
Okay, so she did send her only daughter to another world through a magic tree, but hey Snow will always do what she thinks is best for her kids. And really what more could you ask of your mom?
Beverly Goldberg, The Goldbergs
Although she's a house mom, Beverly Goldberg wears the pants in this 80s sitcom, and we love her for it. She takes her job seriously; from PTA meetings to cooking, she devotes her life to making her kids' lives special. And if she embarrasses them along the way, well, even better!
Jo McGuire, Lizzie McGuire
Although Lizzie's mom does some downright embarrassing things, she is always there to help. Like when she guided Lizzie's first bra shopping experience or saved her from an inappropriate party. Yeah, we sure wouldn't have minded Mrs. McGuire around while we maneuvered the social stress of middle school.
Lorelai Gilmore, Gilmore Girls
Lorelai knows how to give some good advice. She puts Rory's needs above her own and always encourages her to be better. She's also funny, witty and a little addicted to coffee. She's got the best-friend-mom thing down pat, so whether you need a shoulder to cry on or someone to order pizza with, she'll be there.
Kitty Forman, That 70s Show
She never pretends to be something she's not, and she expects that of her children too. Plus, she lets you have friends over whenever and treats them like family. Not only that, but she cooks and bakes for EVERYONE. Yes, please!
Jessica Huang, Fresh off the Boat
Moving from DC's Chinatown to Orlando can be a struggle, but Jessica tries the best she can to help her family with the culture shock. Intelligent, protective and cultured, this modern mother always stands by her family, proving women can do it all.
Carol Brady, The Brady Bunch
She wiggled her way into our hearts by showing there's no difference between being a stepmom to Peter, Greg and Bobby or a biological one to Marcia, Jan and Cindy. She helped Alice in the kitchen even when she didn't have to, and loved her husband more than anything. Yup, this woman was one fantastic mother.
Clair Huxtable, The Cosby Show
Clair Huxtable is an unstoppable force. Not only does she know how to balance family life with her professional one, but she looks great doing it. Nothing gets by this woman, and she isn't afraid to call you out when it's needed. She's the perfect balance of a disciplinary and inspirational.
Catelyn Stark, Game of Thrones
There is no woman more devoted to her children than Catelyn Stark. She doesn't sit around and wait for things to happen—well except for Bran to recover. But normally, she takes charge and does everything in her power to keep her kids safe. Who wouldn't want such a supportive, protective, and understanding mother?
Krisina Braverman, Parenthood
Kristina Braverman goes after her dreams, whether she's running for office or raising a family. She never gives up and she always supports her kids, even when it may be hard to. Plus she kicked cancer's ass. You go, Kristina!
Gloria Delgado-Pritchett, Modern Family
You never have to wonder what this Latina momma has on her mind; she'll tell you. She's unapologetically strong which makes her a great mother, leader and role model for her children.
Vivian Banks, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
If you want a mother who's strong, confident and never affected by age, look no further than Vivian Banks. She cares about her kids, stands by her man and definitely has the sass thing down. Remember when she showed up those young collegiates? Yeah, we do.
Cora Crawley, Downtown Abbey
Cora has a heart of gold and that's why we love her—and wouldn't mind her as our mom. She is always willing to help her family and her community. Hey, it takes a special person to host hundreds of wounded soldiers. Not to mention she does it all while caring for her husband and daughters.
Lily Aldrin, How I Met Your Mother
Okay, she's a relatively new mom by the end of the series, but hey, she still rocks. Her relationship with Marshall teaches us about true love and perseverance. Seriously, how could you not want these two as your parents? Just think of the Halloween costumes!
