Every Amazing Thing We Know About The 'Fantastic Beasts' Movies

Looks like we found not just one movie, but potentially five! According to an announcement from J.K. Rowling herself, her one shot novel will possibly span five feature films. Needless to say, Harry Potter fans have never been so blessed.

It's pretty much an indisputable fact there's never been a better time to be a Harry Potter fan. Trust us, we have some pretty damn compelling evidence.

The original book and film releases aside, the impending release of Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them has never had the Potterhead universe so freaking excited. And, given the recent announcement from J.K. Rowling herself, we've got several more reasons to be grateful we're on the Muggle receiving end of our beloved magical universe (unfortunately).

Let's dive into everything we know about Fantastic Beasts so far...

1. Dumbledore Will Appear In The First Film

Yes, we're not pulling any wands here — Rowling confirmed one of the greatest wizards of all time will star in a scene with Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) and Percival Graves (Colin Farrell). Let's pause here to let out collective screams of sheer joy.

2. Dumbledore And Grindelwald May Finally Have An Onscreen Moment

Grindelwald, aka the dark wizard Dumbledore fell in love with, is said to be debuting in Fantastic Beasts. Though the young Grindelwald will likely only make a cameo, we're hoping we'll finally witness a loving encounter between the two powerful wizards.

3. Rowling Anticipates Five Films For Fantastic Beasts Prequel Series

You read that right. Though the upcoming film is based on Rowling's one short novel, the author believes the story "can't possibly fit in one movie." Keep on jumping for joy, Potterheads, and check out her official tweets:

4. She's About To Finish Writing The Second Film's Screenplay

We're now very convinced Rowling is a real-life wizard. As the official screenplay writer for all five future films, we have to expect spellbinding-ly good story lines. Is there anything she can't do (clearly, she hasn't sent our Hogwarts letters, so maybe)?

5. Eddie Redmayne Is Set To Star In The 2018 Sequel

Even though the wonderfully quirky wizard named Newt Scamander has yet to make his big screen debut, Warner Bros. has already slated the A-list actor to reprise his role. We don't yet know if he'll appear in the next three films, but we're crossing our fingers we'll be seeing plenty of this fantastic be-freckled figure.

6. Future Films Won't Take Place In New York City

Given the obviously expansive nature of this emerging series, it makes sense that these films explore other magical locales. While the original books and films remained in the United Kingdom, the prequel series will not only explore the sorcery present in North America but hopefully other areas of the world as well. Director David Yates has said that movie No. 2 will be set in "another major global hub."

7. The Prequel Films Will Adopt Darker, More Politically-Charged Tones

Warner Bros. released a statement confirming the darker plot lines for the prequel series, saying the first film "moves deeper into an increasingly dark time for the wizarding world, where Newt and our other heroes have to decide on their allegiances." We can only imagine what trouble lies ahead for Newt and co., but we're definitely along for the ride.

While we eagerly await the first Fantastic Beasts release, in the meantime we can indulge our Harry Potter obsessions with some magical HP-themed makeup, wand makeup brushes and of course, the original canon.

J.K. Rowling, keep 'em coming.
