After Supergirl fans were given a teaser for the upcoming second season several weeks ago with a first look at the costume for her famous cousin, Superman –– fans have eagerly awaited more news from the show. Today, they got just that, with a new poster featuring our favorite heroine, who is joining The CW's DC lineup. The series premiere will air Monday, October 10th at 8 p.m. EST.
Supergirl debuted last year on CBS, and focused solely on Melissa Benoist's Supergirl, with a few hints at the title character's famous male relative in Metropolis, showing him in brief flashes and cuts. This year, fans get their first hard look at Superman, played by Teen Wolf star Tyler Hoechlin, as he makes his way into the first two episodes of the new season.

Supergirl debuted last season with a strong 13 million viewers, but by the end of the season that number had been cut in half, putting it towards the bottom of the CBS roster and throwing the show's future into jeopardy. It was given a second life, however, when CBS announced that the show would move to The CW for its second season. The move puts Supergirl in much better company, as The CW already boasts a strong stable of shows in the DC comic universe, including The Flash, Green Arrow, and DC's Legends of Tomorrow. It also opens up more opportunities for show crossovers, strengthening all of the channel's comic brands. In preparation for the channel move, The Flash appeared in the final episode of Supergirl last season, and The CW's three existing superhero shows have already established a strong history of cross-pollination.
Hoechlin's Clark Kent/Superman is currently only slated for a two-episode run in season two, keeping Supergirl mainly focused on the Girl of Steel. However, future appearances are more likely than not, now that Superman has been given a definitive face and look. Tune in to seeSupergirl return on Monday, October 10 at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
