The 2014 Golden Globe Awards marked the first major awards show of the year. Celebs used the event to kick off some of the biggest trend forecasts for the year. Here’s a recap of the boldest red carpet trends.
Coral
Coral is slated to be one of the biggest colors of spring, and Sarah Hyland shows us how to rock the trend in her gorgeous coral gown. She let the color of the moment speak for itself by pairing the look with simple mixed-metal accessories and natural looking makeup.
Menswear
Emma Watson took the menswear trend to a whole new level by pairing black pants with a stunning backless red dress. This look isn’t for the faint of heart, but we commend her daring fashion choices.
Sequins
Maternity wear was looking better than ever at this year’s Golden Globe Awards, and pregnant actress Olivia Wilde was literally glowing in this sequin dress. The glimmering gown and deep emerald color hit two of this year’s most stylish trends.
White
White has been the go-to color for simple sophistication the past few seasons, and Paula Patton’s daring gown proved that white remains a fresh choice.
Capes
Cape coats have been all the rage this season, but 12 Years a Slave star Lupita Nyong’o took the trend to new heights with this gorgeous cape dress. The fitted dress calls attention to curves, while the cape creates a lengthening silhouette–a perfect combination.
Cutouts
We’re obsessed with Maria Menounos bright pink dress, and we’re loving the intricate cutout design even more! Cutouts are staying in style this season, and Maria’s dress is the perfect combination of subtle and sultry.
Black & White
Star of HBO’s GIRLS Allison Williams rocked two trends in one at the Golden Globes. The black and white striped print is super trendy, but the textured top is what makes this gown to-die for! Pairing the fuzzy frock with simple accessories was the best way to keep this look classy rather than overwhelming.
Color-block
Actress Sandra Bullock was the color-block queen at the GGA’s. We love the unexpected color mix, the daring cut, and asymmetrical hem. The other trend to try in Sandra’s look is the matching shade of lipstick!
Cap Sleeves
Julie Bowen doubled up on stylish trends at this year’s Golden Globes: We’re digging the bold color blocked dress, but the cap sleeve detailing is what made this gown stand out. The feminine sleeve adds a girlish, laidback look to formal wear.
Statement Earrings
Emma Roberts, star of the FX hit American Horror Story, rocked spring’s must-have accessory: statement earrings. We love the bold blue hue paired with her dark dress and smoky eyes!
