13 Cute Winter Outfits That Will Make You Wish for Snow

Once again fall came and went in a millisecond, and winter weather snuck up on us! With so much to look forward to—the upcoming holidays, festive decor, Black Friday sales—putting together cute winter outfits just became a priority. For your sake (and ours) we found plenty of outfits that are warm, stylish, and a cinch to copy. Click through for 13 winter outfits. They are so cute they’ll have you wishing for snow.

Turtlenecks

Turtleneck tops and sweaters are so practical for winter dressing. Arielle of Something Navy teams her striped turtleneck with boyfriend jeans and a tailored oversized coat for the perfect casual, cute winter outfit. Streamlined accessories like pointed pumps or boots and a simple, structured bag will keep baggy tops and oversized pieces from looking sloppy.

Scarves

The right accessories will make any outfit more cozy—scarves are one of our favorites! They are also a good way to work in trends like mixing prints. We love how Jessie of Seams for a Desire mixed the classic red plaid with a patchwork faux-fur vest and camo ballet flats. You could also easily work in leopard print, polka dots, or windowpane checks!

Statement Coat

Since you’ll be covering up your outfit anytime you go outside, a cute winter coat is essential! A statement coat really becomes part of your outfit, so be sure it doesn’t clash. When wearing a colorful or printed coat, it’s best to keep your outfit simple. Take a cue from Katelyn of Katalina Girl, and wear yours over a simple top and jeans.

Burgundy

Burgundy, oxblood, maroon: There's a reason why these shades come back in style season after season. It's because they're so flattering on anyone. Burgundy also looks good with winter's neutrals like black, camel, and gray. For a cute winter outfit, work in a little or a lot of this jewel-tone color. Or choose a burgundy coat like Chriselle's of The Chriselle Factor so you can work the shade all season long!

Hats

A hat is bound to be your best friend in winter weather. Swap out the typical fedora or beanie for a cool newsboy cap like Sara Strand‘s. A fun accessory adds major style points to a casual turtleneck sweater and jeans, even if you’re simply covering up a bad hair day!

Printed Pants

Printed pants or skinny jeans are the answer to a closet full of solid sweaters and simple coats. The secret to making them look modern is to pair them with classic pieces and colors as Fallon of Sage and Sparkle did. Try pairing yours with a black or camel trench coat and red flats or ankle boots.

Black-and-White

Cute winter outfits don’t have to be complicated. Emily of Ivory Lane works a chic monochrome palette, and the result is rather sophisticated. Her printed black-and-white dress and tall black boots are ideal to wear to the office or on date night. To make the over-the-knee boots more modest, wear them with opaque tights.

Midi

When experimenting with silhouettes like a midi skirt, balance is key. You definitely don’t want the outfit to be too tight or too loose. With a bodycon skirt, you’ll want to add volume on top with a slouchy or oversized sweater as Irina of A Portable Package did. Along the same lines, team a full skirt with a fitted top or sweater.

Neutral Layers

Our coziest winter outfits consist of layers, layers, and more layers! But layering to look cute rather than frumpy is a perfected balance. Julia of Gal Meets Glam has the right idea with a belted trench coat: A cinched waist will define your shape among a few layers.

Faux Fur

There’s nothing as glamorous as a faux-fur jacket to top off cute winter outfits. Faux fur has gotten so much better over the years. Instead of feeling whisper-thin or scratchy, a good faux-fur coat will be soft and warm. Wear one over an all-black outfit as Christina of Oh So Glam did.

Shearling

Dresses and skirts with tights always make for cute winter outfits, but they require serious outerwear. Luckily, a shearling coat is one of this winter’s biggest (and warmest) trends. We love a neutral shearling coat like this one on Sophie of Angel Food Style. Her ribbed tights and tall boots add even more warmth.

Chic Sweatpants

It’s true: Fashion went one step further. Believe it or not, sweatpants can be a part of your cute winter outfits! The key to pulling off this look is finding the right pair. We suggest sweatpants with a slim fit in a neutral color like black or gray. A pair with cuffs at the ankles like Victoria Törnegren’s hit at just the right spot to show off a pair of leg-lengthening pointed pumps.

Cape

If your winter outfit is looking a little lackluster, a cool coat is the easiest way to add interest. Try a cape coat as seen on Camille of Camille Over the Rainbow! It has the same fashion-editor appeal of wearing your coat draped over your shoulders, but it's warmer (and more secure).
