Award Season is Starting! Looks From the Palm Springs International Film Festival
For those of you who look forward to this particular time of year not just to get started on resolutions, but to gaze longingly at all that glorious red carpet fashion. The wait is over. Award season has officially started.
Last weekend, stars descended upon the desert oasis that is Palm Springs, California for the 24th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival (January 3-14). Here's a peek at some of the night's great style.
Nothing frilly or daring going on here; Hunt looks simple and elegant. Although someone really could have told her to stand up straight. But maybe she was just tired.
Drop. Dead. Gorgeous. Diane Lane has got to be one of the most beautiful, ageless women in Hollywood. Remember her in _The Outsiders_ ? The color and the lace of this number is sheer perfection on her.
You know you’re thinking, “I know this guy.” And you do know him. He’s been in over 200 films (most recently as the wedding planner in _Melancholia_) and even starred in one of Madonna’s videos. Anyway, the German-born actor, who is a Palm Springs resident, looks like he’s done this a few times. Nice style, Udo.
Here’s another gal who rarely looks bad. Watts, once again, looks effortlessly flawless in this dress (although, I must admit, at first glance I thought it might actually be a jumpsuit). Anyway, here’s to looking good, Naomi. And, for what I’m sure is, an incredible, tear-jerking performance in _The Impossible_ that I’m likely not to forget.
The other Helen–Dame Helen Mirren–looks impeccable in red. The square neckline and slicked-back hairstyle have her looking like the epitome of elegance.
Not everyone can get away with wearing a hat to a black tie event. But Cranston can and proves, once and for all, that it’s not what you wear, but how you wear it.
It’s Charo. In a suit. On the red carpet. What else could I possibly say about this one? She is still rocking it.
