Glam Up Your Look with This DIY Embellished Collar

This DIY embellished collar will double as a bold statement necklace this holiday season, turning a classic blouse into your favorite layering piece this December!

DIY Embellished Collar

The silk blouse is a timeless wardrobe staple, but this holiday season it's time to turn it up a notch with an embellished collar you can do yourself! Adding a few ladylike embellishments will re-invent this classic button-up, and selecting a neutral colored blouse will allow your embellishments to pop. To wear your DIY embellished collar, layer it under your favorite cardigan or pull-over sweater. Once you've mastered this project, try creating other designs on different styles of shirts—like your favorite chambray top—using other materials such as rhinestones or buttons!

Materials: silk blouse, Jewel-It glue (or needle and thread), pearl studs

DIY Embellished Collar

1. Lay your blouse on a flat surface. Play around with your design and make sure you have enough beads to create a symmetrical design. Use a toothpick to dab glue onto the back of a pearl bead.

2. Place the bead on the tip of the collar and begin working outward. Repeat the design on the opposite side of the collar. The glue will take awhile to set, so be careful not to move the collar until it is dry. Allow the glue to dry overnight. While the glue is washable, it is recommended that you dry clean your finished shirt. Optional: To reinforce the bead, use a needle and thread to stitch each onto the collar.
