How to Make Earrings: DIY Statement Spikes

Spiked jewelry is one of the best ways to add a little edge to any outfit. Pair spikes with a little sparkle, and you've got a recipe for fabulous! This DIY tutorial will teach you how to make earrings using sparkly studs and brass golden spikes for a total rock star look.

Get creative with your sparkly stud-and-spike earrings! Grab a rhinestone of any color, and pair it with any color of metal you want. For these earrings we used clear rhinestones with brass settings and brass spikes for a new vintage look. Use other spike jewelry designs to inspire your own DIY design.

Materials: 2 rhinestones with attached rings, 2 earring posts and 2 backsE6000 glue, 2 jump ringsneedle-nose pliers, 2 spikes

How to Make Spike Earrings

1. Glue the earring posts to the backs of the rhinestones with a dab of E6000 adhesive, and let the glue set up for a bit before moving on.

2. After the glue has dried, grab the jump rings and use your needle-nose pliers to pry them open. Attach a jump ring to the bottom of each rhinestone and connect each jump ring to a spike. Squeeze the jump rings closed to secure the spikes.

3. Add the backs to the posts, and your sparkly spike earrings are ready to wear!
