Jean Skirts: Conquering the Basics
I don’t love shopping for the basics, and sometimes I don’t do a very good job of it. I don’t want to spend a lot for something like a white tank top, so I end up buying a cheap one that wears out or just doesn’t do the trick!
My latest “basic” conquest has been a jean skirt. I’ve gone through probably a half a dozen jean skirts—short, long, too short, too long, too tight. It’s hard to strike the perfect balance, especially as many fads nowadays tend to trend toward the “too short” range. I don’t want to look like an ill-advised teenager or like a poster girl for a sorority sister ten years on.
Keep in mind how you want to wear your skirt.
- Will it be only as a summer skirt?
- Do you want it to be long enough to wear without leggings or tights?
These things add length when paired with a skirt, but if you plan to go bare legged, you might want something that provides more coverage.
When you decide on length, you’ll want to make sure there’s enough room for movement—too tight, and you won’t want to wear it! Buying a jean skirt may sound basic, and if you want to nail down comfort, you’ll be glad you went through all the questions!
