New York Fashion Week Fall 2014 Recap Day 4: Brighter Colors, Bolder Prints

The fourth day of New York Fashion Week collection previews brought us more fur, embellishment, brighter colors, and bolder patterns. See some of our favorite collections shown Sunday.

As the fourth day of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week comes to a close, the color outlook for fall has brightened. The blues are bolder, the blush tones leaned more fuchsia, but black and white mixtures have stayed consistent. We also saw more pattern. Today’s shows stayed true to their brands while creating unique and modern designs. Check out a few of our favorite collections from today’s line up:

Victoria Beckham
Victoria Beckham has officially stepped into high-end design with this collection. There is sophistication in this line that we haven’t seen from her. The pieces are mostly black and white with small, but bold color detailing. We're excited by the ruffles and abstract embellishments, too. Her fall 2014 collection is complete, so you'll find great looks for every occasion from work to gala here.

Their amazing spring 2014 line is a lot to live up to, but Delpozo’s done it again. From bright plaid outerwear to sparkly embellished dresses, there’s no lack of imagination in this collection. The girliest of girls will love these designs.

The DKNY fall 2014 show was a mix of hip-hop streetwear meets sports luxe. Varsity jackets, leather dresses, animal print, houndstooth, and plaid ruled this runway. This collection was mostly black and white with pops of cobalt blue and golden yellow.

Diane von Furstenburg
This DVF show marked 40 year since the creation of her iconic wrap dress. Diane somehow managed to recreate her signature dress. Her 2014 show entitled ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ opened with black-and-white wrap dresses and moved into a longer gowns and plunging necklines. Some of her standout pieces included a cocoon coat, patterned fur, and a gold jacquard finish.

Thakoon was a blend of southwestern vibes and flirty florals. The collection took an eclectic turn for fall fashion with innovative prints and proportions. Fuchsia floral print blossomed in many of the designs. The line included colorful cropped capes, funnel neck scarves, and puffer outerwear.

Lela Rose
Lela Rose is famous for her glamorous dresses, and her fall 2014 line did not disappoint. Inspired by El Bulli restaurant in Spain, the collection referenced foodie Lela’s love for presentation. The offbeat inspiration meant more geometric lines and rich texture. Some of her best pieces were a navy striped mohair coat, a black dress with tulle overlay, and a simple but elegant fuchsia gown.

Custo Barcelona
Designer Custo Dalmau played with symmetry this season, adding a new touch to his signature patterns. The collection is ‘80s inspired: "an optical experience," says the designer. The mostly black collection featured pops of pinks and reds that transitioned into camels and grays. The line finished with the most fabulous fur outerwear to hit the runway this season.
