Get The Look: An Outfit For Every Type Of New Year’s Eve Party

Glamorous parties, romantic dinners, and every cute pair of sparkly PJs in between could be considered acceptable attire for NYE celebrations, and the endless options are certainly overwhelming. We’ve curated a lookbook of our favorite outfits for this season’s get togethers, whether you’re at a fancy ball or watching the ball drop—you should still look and feel fabulous.

Perhaps one of the most highly esteemed holidays in regards to our outfit expectations, New Year’s Eve never fails to have us feeling all glamorous and *sparkly* no matter what our plans include. We’ve rounded up a handy guide for whatever your NYE plans may include: from cozying up at a candlelit dinner with your beau to braving the blistering cold—effortless glam is now at your perfectly polished fingertips.

1. Glam Party Look

Some of us may opt for a night of total glamour as we ring in the new year, but the glittery sequin options prancing in and out of all our online shopping carts can be a tad overwhelming. Nevertheless, we’ve done our due diligence to put together the perfect look that will sparkle and shine at every fabulous party, gala, or fancy dinner you may be attending.

The real show-stopper in this look is this emerald green sequin mini dress. The textured duo of velvet and sequins is a major statement in and of itself, but pair it with this ivory faux fur coat and we’re absolutely smitten. The rose gold heels add a nice metallic touch to the ensemble, but these ball drop earrings are a necessity for any NYE maven. Oh, Times Square has a big crystal ball that drops at midnight? We didn’t even notice, because these earrings are the only star of our New Year’s Eve show.

Earrings: $40, Gilt

2. Staying Home To Watch The Ball Drop

Speaking of the Times Square iconic crystal ball, sometimes a girl just wants to have a cozy night in and soak up the first moments of the new year exactly how she wants: with a glass of wine, a bowl of popcorn, and a front row seat to Ryan Seacrest’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve. As the busy holiday hustle comes to a close, it doesn’t sound so bad to kick back on NYE with your feet up and a cozy blanket. Nevertheless, an occasion so precious obviously requires a brand new set of silk PJs, because #duh.

This menswear-inspired pajama set makes for the coziest NYE getup, with artful splatters adding a festive, confetti-style touch. Just in case you’re needing a quick nap (or, let’s be honest—a New Year’s Eve Instagram), this What a Night sleep mask is too cute for words. And lastly, you can’t have a pajama night without a pair of fuzzy slippers, and these Target velvet slippers with a luscious pom gracing the top call for a seriously chic night consisting of takeout food and romantic comedies. BRB—cancelling our NYE plans so we can join in on this cozy night-in…

3. The Outdoor Adventure

Whether you’re venturing out in the cold to get to your NYE bash, are planning to wait in a daunting line to get the best table at the party, or are going to watch the ball drop right in Times Square—you won’t need to sacrifice your glam points in order to keep warm. What’s the secret to looking like a superstar while braving the blistering temps? Two words: faux fur.

We paired these high-waisted wide leg trousers with this dreamy bodysuit, embellished with jewels to undoubtedly add a festive sparkle to your ensemble. These rhinestones lining this Steve Madden strappy sandal take an essential heel and make it #NYEapproved, while this mini bucket bag from Zara proudly donning metallic mesh is far too cute to pass up. But let’s be real: It’s cold out, and thus this burgundy faux fur coat is ready to brave the cold and will have you appropriately placed on the New Year’s Eve best dressed list, right where you belong.

4. Romantic Dinner

If you’re planning to celebrate the start of this new year alongside your beau, you’ll want to create a look that’s both elegant and chic, but let’s be real—also sexy. Channel your inner Carrie Bradshaw, and opt for an outfit that is right on trend showcasing your attention to fashionable details while flashing just the right amount of skin. Being a New Year’s Eve vixen is easy when you’ve got an outfit this captivating.

This look is all about classy edginess with a touch of sexy flair. The metallic pleated midi skirt is both sophisticated and trendy, while this lace-trimmed camisole from Zara is delicate at first glance, but dares to take a risk with the studded detailing. To amp up the biker-chic vibes, the leather jacket keeps this look weather appropriate, while the floral embellished strappy heels tie in a fun patterned print. To add some hints of festive color, these red tassel earrings and Fenty lip paint in the classic Stunna shade will turn up the heat in an instant.

5. New Year’s Eve Wedding

If your New Year’s Eve plans include celebrating some festive newlyweds, you know you’ll be cheersing to an evening of glamorous cocktails, sophisticated attire, and endless dancing! Just because you aren’t the bride doesn’t mean you can’t bring the drama in a drop dead gorgeous gown. See below:

This bordeaux body-con gown is both extremely elegant and strikingly sexy all wrapped into one sleek look. While walking in and out of the venue, we included this ultra-glam cropped faux fur jacket to keep warm while continuing to look hot as ever. The scalloped and embellished Sam Edelman sandal is the epitome of a party shoe, and will peek out beneath your glorious gown as a fun and festive touch. And last but certainly not least, this cage sphere clutch from ASOS had to have been made for a NYE outfit, right? I mean—do we even have to acknowledge that big sparkly ball in Times Square again? You need this little dream-worthy clutch bag STAT.
