Let Lungta de Fancy morph you into the fairer seasons …
There’s nothing like getting the most out of your sartorial purchases—like that little black dress you can wear ten different ways, sixty different times—but that’s about as practical as my wardrobe gets. Despite the undeniably functional benefits of rubber rain boots or comfy yoga pants, my inner fashion snob just won’t allow them in my closet. I’m vain like that.
That’s why I love the spring collection from new London-based line, Lungta de Fancy—which pleases my eye and also performs—with clothes that are practical and fully functional, yet look anything but. Taking cues from Mother Nature and her many cycles and transformations, the designers behind Lungta de Fancy have created a truly ethereal collection of dresses, jackets, bottoms and tops, in which luscious layers of fabric are festooned with pretty ruffle, ruching, tie, button and zip details, balancing femininity with function and versatility. The subdued color palette provides a warm and welcoming segue into spring—(au revoir, dreary darks of winter; bonjour, pretty pastels!)—with one skirt that looks, literally, like a puffy blue cumulonimbus cloud.
Descriptions like “four ways to wear” and “skirt shape changeable” prove that the pieces can be morphed in ways worthy of a Kafka novella, creating, in their own words, “a perfect world of one item with many options.” Take, for example, their elegant “all in one” coat that can be transformed into a skirt, a dress, a top, and a cropped jacket, all by way of hidden zippers, strings, and a little bit of magic. Talk about bang for your buck!
