Fun Team-Building Exercises to Improve Morale and Productivity

If you’re looking for ways to give your business energy and vitality, try thinking outside the box when it comes to teambuilding exercises. If you put your mind to it, you can come up with dozens of cool games and competitions that your employees can enjoy and that you can benefit from. Think about what you like to do for fun, and ask your employees what they do in their free time. Going with something familiar that has a bit of a twist to it always works well in teambuilding.

Creativity is an important element in the success of your company, so cultivate it in your employees. Try ice-carving or chocolate making for a teambuilding exercise and give your people the opportunity to let their creative juices flow. Both activities are lots of fun and the end results are either beautiful to look at or good to eat. Make sure you get the entire process on film so you can watch it later on and have a good laugh. If your employees like the camera work, break them into teams and have each team make a movie. That will take creativity to another level.

Physical activities are also good for building team spirit and unity. Try mountain climbing. It’s an opportunity for your workers to build friendships and improve their physical fitness levels. Other activities in this category include ropes or obstacle courses, relay races, and circus skills competitions, though the latter might be more of a talent show than a physical activity. Whatever you choose, there should be plenty of chances to laugh, smile, and have a great time.

If you’re looking for pure fun, try taking the crew out for paintball. There are indoor and outdoor varieties of this activity and it’s actually considered a sport by those who participate in it. Set up teams and capture the flag, or go on a definitive seek and destroy mission where there can be only one team left standing. Make sure you follow all safety precautions. The guns might not be real, but they do hit with a pretty powerful impact. Wear all the recommended protective gear and listen to instructors and umpires when they give your team direction.

Other fun team building exercises are musical contests, like drumming, a game called Thriller where teams re-enact the Michael Jackson Thriller video (make-up included), and games like Human Foosball where your employees are tied to a stick and forced to move together to block or shoot a ball at the opposing team’s goal (just like the table game). You’re probably smiling already. Try one of these or make up your own. After reading this, you should have no problem creating something new.
