Bed Rest Guidelines

Bed Rest Guidelines

I have recently been placed on bed rest until I deliver. I have been instructed to get up to go to the bathroom and take a shower every two to three days. Thank God I’m pretty fresh and it’s winter time. I am only 22 weeks so I have decided to do some things to stimulate my mind. When I’m not engaged in activities with my daughter like reading, going over homework, coloring, playing with littlest pet shops, and our newest activity, checkers, I will be doing the following:

  • Learn to speak another language
  • Brain teasers
  • Crossword puzzles
  • Word finds
  • Preparing tax paperwork
  • Bed exercises
  • Reading and contributing to Divine Caroline
  • Reading books
  • Anything else I can think of

Please feel free to give me some ideas to not go stir crazy.

I am blessed to have a wonderful mother; she cooks, cleans, and makes sure my daughter gets to and from school when my husband is at work or out of town. My daughter has become my special helper. I have to come up with something really special for her, but she did promise the doctor that she would help. As for my husband, he’s awesome. What more can I say? He helps with everything. I’m glad I have him.

Things to limit while on bed rest: TV. If I have to guess one more time who’s the father on Maury, I am going to lose it! Also, court shows. (I have worked in a courtroom before. Trust me, it’s nothing like on television.)

What will I miss:

  • The freedom of movement
  • Driving
  • Going out to eat
  • Playing with my family
  • Cooking, cleaning (I know I never thought I’d say that!)
  • Decorating for the holidays
  • And being with my husband (If you know what I mean)

The payoff: a new little man to enhance our family who is healthy, happy, and honored. In the end, we all win.

Many blessings!
