The central western region of Australia is home to some of the darkest skies in the southern hemisphere—making it every astronomer's dream come true. To capitalize on this unique, natural opportunity, the Central West Astronomical Society established Astrofest, in hopes to unite a niche group of people who can't get enough of the incomparable beauty of space.
Every year, astro-junkies from all over the world submit their best photographic works to the exhibit in hopes to win first place in one of the six categories. This year's winners were recently announced and the round up of photos are literally out of this world. Take a look for yourselves.
