5 Reasons You Should Be Using Soy Candles vs. Paraffin Candles
Shop Story

Don’t get us wrong: We go crazy over Bath & Body Works’ semi-annual candle sale, but it’s not the best option for you, the environment or your bank account. Here are a bunch of reasons why soy candles are the smarter, healthier choice for you and the rest of the world.

1. Soy Candles Are Natural

Unlike conventional wax candles, soy candles are made from natural soybean wax and free of petroleum. This means they’re non-toxic, making them better for the environment and your own health.

2. Soy Candles Burn 50% Longer

Though sometimes more expensive, soy wax burns slower — thus longer — than regular candles, making them more cost-effective in the long run. Think of them as an investment for a good-smelling apartment, no matter what mood you’re feeling.

3. Soy Candles Burn Cleaner

Soy candles don’t produce as much black soot as paraffin candles. If you’re a candle freak like me, then you’ve noticed black streaks up walls or furniture from burning your favorite seasonal scents. With soy wax, you won’t run into this problem as often. The best way to avoid soot stains is to check that the candle is 100% soy and not just a soy blend.

4. Soy Candles Are Non-Toxic

Since they’re made of vegetable oil, soy candles produce minimal amounts of soot, have a lower melting point and don’t release dangerous carcinogens into the air (compared to the 11 known toxins that come from paraffin candles). In general, they’re healthier for you, the environment and even your pets.

5. Soy Candles Produce a Stronger Scent

Compared to paraffin wax, soy wax produce a more pleasant scent due to the low melting point. It builds a larger liquid pool around the wick, which is what evaporates into the surrounding air creating a stronger smell. It’s also a cleaner smell because you’re not dealing with harmful chemicals, which can sometimes cause headaches.

Now that you’re informed, you can clearly see why soy candles are the premium choice for wellness and the environment. Keep scrolling to shop the soy candles we’re loving.
